Renovate Wright's Wharf and Bulkhead to Improve Access for Seafood Businesses

Department of Economic and Community Development

Allocation: $2,000,000

Status: Active

The seafood supply chain was brought to a halt regionally, nationally, and internationally by COVID-19. To recover swiftly in Maine, fishing and fish-processing businesses need access to harbors with modernized seafood infrastructure to quickly offload and deliver wild and farmed seafood products to market.

These funds will help complete the renovation at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute Wright's Wharf and bulkhead to provide additional commercial fishing vessel berthing that support fishing, aquaculture, and seafood supply-chain jobs. The renovated bulkhead will stabilize Wright's Wharf for construction of processing, warehouse, office, and lab facilities.
