It has become considerably more difficult for Maine families to locate affordable rental housing during the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, hundreds of Mainers who received tenant-based rental assistance were unable to find units to rent.
Housing Navigators will help individuals and families identify housing, successfully complete the rental process, engage in productive landlord-tenant relationships, and remain stably housed. Navigators will work with landlords in developing partnerships to expand the number of available rental units. The pilot program will be administered by MaineHousing with Navigators based at public housing authorities and nonprofit organizations in each of Maine's nine regional service hubs.
