Career Counseling for Mainers Seeking Work

Department of Labor

Allocation: $3,652,346

Status: Active

The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic effects interfered with employment and career stability for many Maine workers.

These funds will expand the Maine Department of Labor's capacity to provide no-cost career counseling at Maine CareerCenters to unemployed and underemployed job seekers - with a specific emphasis on communities that experienced disproportionate effects of COVID-19. This investment will increase the reach and mobility of CareerCenter staff, enabling them to meet and serve clients in libraries, schools, and other community settings. Job seekers will be provided help searching for job opportunities, finding vocational training and tuition supports, and accessing resources to overcome barriers such as childcare and transportation, among other services.
