2018 Maine Income Tax Withholding Tables

The 2018 Withholding Tables for Individual Income Tax have been published.  The tables are available online at www.maine.gov/revenue/forms/with/2018/18_WH_Tab&Instructions_rev.pdf. For questions on the tables, call the Maine Revenue Services withholding unit at (207) 626-8475, select option 1 and then option 4, or email withholding.tax@maine.gov.

Please note the important notices on the front cover of the withholding tables booklet. Note especially that the due date by which information returns, such as Form W-2, must be filed with Maine Revenue Services is changed from February 28th to January 31st following the calendar year to which the information return relates.  The change in the due date applies to information returns filed for calendar years beginning on or after January 1, 2017.  36 M.R.S. § 5242; LD 1551, PL 2017, c. 211, Pt. D, §§ 12 and 14. Information return data must be filed electronically with Maine Revenue Services; paper copies of Forms W-2 and 1099 are not acceptable.  See specifications at www.maine.gov/revenue (select Electronic Services) for more information.
