EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
2017 Withholding Tables and
Miscellaneous Income Tax Forms
REVISED
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY Maine Revenue Services has published revised 2017 Maine Income Tax Withholding Tables to reflect the recent repeal of the 3% individual income tax surcharge. Please find the updated instructions and tables online at www.maine.gov/revenue/forms/with/2017/17_WH_Tab&instructions20170728-nosur.pdf.
The two-year budget for fiscal years ending June 30, 2018 and June 30, 2019 enacted by the Maine State Legislature and Governor Paul R. LePage on July 4, 2017 repealed the 3% income tax surcharge on taxable income over $200,000 for tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2017. In response, Maine Revenue Services has published the revised 2017 Withholding Tables for immediate use. Changes include updated tables on pages 9-18 and revised withholding tax rate schedules on page 6 for employers and other payers that use the percentage method to calculate Maine income tax withholding. Please discard any copies of the 2017 Withholding Tables with a “12/16” revision date.
If you have any questions about the updated tables, please contact Maine Revenue Services at (207) 626-8475 (select option 1, then option 4) or at withholding.tax@maine.gov.
