17th Annual Maine Tax Forum
The 17th annual Maine Tax Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6th and Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at the Augusta Civic Center. The forum is being hosted by SCORE Maine and will cover Maine and federal tax developments, case law developments, ethics, new IRS initiatives and other topics of current interest for tax advisors.
Charles Colgan will be the keynote speaker talking about the “Maine and National Economic Outlook”. Dr. Colgan chairs the USM Program in Community Planning & Development and is a Professor of Public Policy and Management at the Muskie School of Public Service. He is the former Maine State Economist. This will be a very interesting talk given the current policy debate in Washington.
A new feature presentation this year is a panel discussion on the Affordable Care Act implications for tax practitioners. A panel of experts will explain this complex new law.
Another featured speaker is Karen Hawkins, Director of the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility, who will talk on the Internal Revenue Service’s “Rules of Engagement”.
Attendance at the Maine Tax Forum will provide 12.75 CLE and 15 CPE credits. The IRS has approved 12 CE credit hours, including 2 hours of Ethics.
There are still seats available. Register on-line at: http://conta.cc/18qCR0I.
