Representative Richard R. Farnsworth
Rep. Farnsworth retired as Executive Director of Woodfords Family Services in Portland after 18 years in that position. Prior to that he held positions in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Ohio and Aroostook County, working in the field of services to people with developmental disabilities. He had the privilege of teaching at Temple University in Philadelphia for 5 years and nearly completed his doctorate in organization development while at Temple.
He and his family have lived in Portland for 20 years and have the good fortune to have all of their 3 children and 4 grandchildren living in the Portland area with the grandchildren all in the Portland Public Schools. His Wife, Ellen, is a Nurse Practitioner and has recently retired from working in occupational health at Work Med, a program of St. Mary’s Hospital in Auburn.

Rep. Farnsworth previously served as the House Democratic Chair on the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services.
