The Friends of the Blaine House
"Keeping the Tradition Alive"
The Blaine House is not only the home of Maine's Governors and their families, it is also a public historic building. As such, it is subject to constant use. Over 14,000 people visit the Blaine House each year.
In 1989, Governor McKernan and U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe, began a restoration program of the Blaine House. This restoration was aided by the formation of the Friends of the Blaine House. This non-profit organization is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Maine pride in the Blaine House.
While the basic upkeep of the Blaine House is taken care of by state government, there are many aspects of maintaining the residence, gardens, and grounds that require private funds.
