The following servicemembers are Fallen Heroes with Ties to Maine. These servicemembers have given their lives in defense of freedom since September 11, 2001. The State of Maine recognizes the dedication, duty and ultimate sacrifice given by these servicemembers while serving our nation in support of combat operations.

CPL Kennedy, 25 of Houston, TX, was killed in a helicopter crash when his CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed and burned in Kuwait. Brian was based at Camp Pendleton, CA. Maine tie is mother of Port Clyde, ME. |

CW5 Swartworth, 43, of Viriginia, was killed in action when the UH-60 Black Hawk helipcoter she was in was shot down in Tikrit, Iraq. Sharon was the regimental warrant officer for the Judge Advocate General Office, based at Headquarters Department of the Army, Pentagon. Maine tie is father of Litchfield, ME.

CPT Cash, 36, of Winterville, NC, died in Baqubah, Iraq when his Bradley Fighting vehicle came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. Christopher was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry, Jackonsville, NC. Maine tie is mother of Old Orchard Beach, ME.
