Wednesday August 7, 2002

DHS Bureau of Health notified the Department of Conservation on Wednesday PM that test results from the swim water at Damariscotta Lake State Park showed bacteria levels are down and that the water is safe for swimmers.  Results from Monday tests showed levels below threshold levels.  Results from Tuesday tests were very low.  Damariscotta Lake State Park staff will continue to test the swim water on a periodic basis.

We invite visitors to join us at lovely Damariscotta Lake State Park for swimming and picnicking for the remainder of the 2002 Season.

The Department tests swim areas at its State Parks on a periodic basis.  Testing and informing the public when concerns arise help us to provide visitors with a safe swim experience.
