Do you want to get certified?

“Forest Certification” is a voluntary process, under which a particular forest area, ownership, or sometimes a timber harvest is evaluated by an independent, unbiased party to determine if it is being managed according to a recognized set of standards.

There are several certification “systems” in existence which have somewhat different standards and procedures. Several different organizations in Maine have adopted various certification systems in recent years. Certification standards are usually intended to ensure that natural resources are being protected and any management for forest products is “sustainable” over many decades.
