COMPREHENSIVE LAND
USE PLAN UPDATE
Last Updated:

[Project Overview] [Public Participation and Process]
Project Overview
The Commission's Comprehensive Land Use Plan, first adopted in the mid-1970s, establishes policies to guide the Commission's work and is the basis for the Commission's regulations. The current version of the plan, adopted in 1997, represents the third complete update of the plan.
The Commission is charged with planning for future growth, not just reacting to it. For this reason, the Commission's plan is regularly evaluated and updated in order to look back at trends and determine their effect on the jurisdiction and its values, and to develop a future vision of the jurisdiction. Given the increasingly changing conditions and priorities of the Commission and its jurisdiction, as well as the significant amount of time a plan revision typically requires, the Commission staff has already initiated work on the next plan revision. The staff anticipates a new version of the plan in 2008.
This portion of the Commission's web site is reserved for updates and status reports relating to the ongoing revision of the plan.
