Online Scheduling Now Available Through My HealtheVet
Fit your doctor’s visit into your schedule, not the other way around. My HealtheVet users can now schedule primary care appointments online at more than 115 VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) and their assoiated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
Some VAMCs also allow online scheduling for certain specialty appointments. VA plans to add more appointment types in the future. VA is working to make online scheduling available at all VAMCs by summer 2018.
You can schedule appointments online at VAMCs where you already receive care.
How can Veterans use online scheduling?
To schedule an appointment online, you need to be a VA patient with a My HealtheVet Premium account. If your VAMC allows online scheduling, you will see a “Schedule a VA Appointment” option on your dashboard when you log in. You can access online scheduling any time you use My HealtheVet. You can refill prescriptions, check your medical records, send Secure Messages and schedule an appointment in the same session.
“[Online scheduling] is very intuitive,” says U.S Marine Veteran Gerry Carbone. “You can go in there and easily figure it out. I even showed my dad how to use [online scheduling] and now he’s using it.“
With online scheduling you can:
• Self-schedule primary care appointments at participating VAMCswhere you have had a primary care appointment in the past two years.
• Request help scheduling primary care appointments at participating VAMCs where you receive care.
• Self-schedule or request help scheduling specialty appointments such as outpatient mental health, optometry and audiology, at participating facilities.
• View and cancel appointments and requests.
You can also send messages about requested appointments to schedulers and receive notifications.
