Local lawmakers pack meals for local food pantries

Sen. Gratwick, Rep. Dunphy and Sen. Dill

Rep. Michelle Dunphy, D-Old Town, and Penobscot County Senators Jim Dill and Geoffrey Gratwick joined University of Maine students and other volunteers Saturday to package meals for local food pantries and soup kitchens.

The event was organized by the university’s Bodwell Center for Service and Volunteerism. Volunteers packaged more than 20,000 meals for Mainers in need.

Dunphy represents Old Town and Penobscot Indian Island. She is serving her first term in the Maine House.

Dill is serving his first term in the Maine Senate, having previous served four years in the House. He represents part of Penobscot County.

Gratwick represents Bangor and Hermon and is serving his second term in the Maine Senate.
