 Rep. Dunphy

AUGUSTA – Rep. Michelle Dunphy has been named state director for the national Women in Government Foundation.

“This is a great opportunity to share information and ideas with other state legislators from across the country,” said Dunphy, D-Old Town. “I’m excited to work with this respected national organization to facilitate conversations about what’s working, what isn’t and how we can share our experiences in order to do the best possible work for the people we serve.”

State directors serve as ambassadors between their state and the national, nonpartisan organization. Women in Government provides leadership development opportunities and educational resources in order to empower state lawmakers to address complex policy issues. The organization, which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is based in Washington, D.C.

“We at Women in Government sincerely appreciate Rep. Dunphy’s willingness to serve in such an important capacity on behalf of our organization,” said Dyan Alexander, executive director of the organization. “As we work with organizations and corporations interested in sharing the most cutting-edge research and information on pressing policy issues with legislators, having her assistance is critical.”

Dunphy is serving her first term in the Maine House. She is a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and represents Old Town and Penobscot Indian Island.
