Paving to Begin in Smithfield

Smithfield – Crews will be paving and installing new drainage as well as performing safety improvements in the towns of Smithfield, Farmington, New Sharon, Mercer and Norridgewock beginning on Monday, May 11th.

The project will start on Route 8 in Smithfield beginning 0.21 of a mile north of Rome Road and extend northerly for 1.79 miles to 1.18 miles north of Pine Tree Road.

On Route 2 the project begins 0.39 of a mile northeasterly of the Mercer-Norridgewock town line and extend 3.48 miles northeasterly.

Also on Route 2, crews will pave beginning 1.12 miles southeasterly of High Street and extend easterly 15.78 miles to 0.39 of a mile northeasterly of the Mercer-Norridgewock town line.

One lane of traffic will be maintained through the work zones controlled by flaggers. Motorists should expect slight delays.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by mid-October, 2015.

Pike Industries of Fairfield will perform this $4.2 million project.
