Exit 113 Roundabouts to Open Today

Augusta – As the Augusta Exit 113 construction nears its completion, the northbound and southbound roundabouts will be opened up to traffic today by late afternoon.

The southbound roundabout is located on the west side of the interstate, where I-95 southbound on and off-ramps connect with Old Belgrade Road and Route 3.

The northbound roundabout is located on the east side of the interstate where I-95 on and off-ramps connect with Route 3 at this location.

Motorists should use caution and be aware of the new traffic patterns associated with the roundabouts and new traffic signals. Motorists should follow the signs and pavement markings for assistance when entering and exiting the roundabouts.

Travelers can expect work to continue in these areas for the next few weeks as the finishing details and cleanup are being completed, and to pay particular attention to the work zone signage and flaggers when entering an active work zone.

In addition to the roundabouts, crews are widening the Old Belgrade Road, including four lanes between I-95 and the Alfond Center for Health. There are modifications at the intersections with Middle and Bog Roads, a reconfiguration of the intersection of the Old Belgrade Road with Route 27, including a traffic signal.

There will also be a trail for bicycles and pedestrians along the Old Belgrade Road corridor, and a spur and cul-de-sac to allow some Old Belgrade Road residents access to their properties.
