I-295 Traffic Sensors Being Installed

Freeport – MaineDOT crews will be installing traffic counting sensors in the pavement on I-295 Tuesday and Wednesday, August 7th and 8th from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On August 7th from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., crews will be installing traffic counting sensors on I-295 northbound approximately two miles north of Exit 17, ending 500 ft south of the Freeport Exit 20. One lane of thru traffic will permitted during the work hours.

On August 8th from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., crews will be installing traffic counting sensors on I-295 in the same location, but in the southbound direction. One lane of thru traffic will be permitted during the work hours.

This work is weather dependent, with the rain date set for August 9th.

This project supports our Traffic Monitoring Program, providing the number of vehicles utilizing the highway throughout the year as well as changes in travel patterns.
