Thomaston Public Meeting To Focus On Route 1
THOMASTON, Maine – A portion of Route 1 in Thomaston is due for reconstruction, and MaineDOT is holding a public meeting on Thursday, August 25th from 6-8 pm at Watts Hall, 174 Main Street, in Thomaston to discuss the proposed project.
For the last five months, the Maine Department of Transportation has been working with a Public Advisory Committee, made up of local residents, through a Context Sensitive Solutions process to develop draft recommendations regarding how the stretch of Route 1 from the intersection of Toll Bridge Road to the intersection of High Street should be designed to best fit the needs of the community.
The committee developed a Vision and Problem Statement to guide their discussions, and has covered aspects of the reconstruction such as lane widths, shoulder widths, sidewalks and bike lanes. More information on the project and meeting materials can be viewed at www.maine.gov/mdot/cssprojects/thomaston.
At the upcoming public meeting the Public Advisory Committee members and MaineDOT will present the draft recommendations to hear comments, gather feedback and answer questions on the project. Once the public has provided input on the draft recommendations, MaineDOT will continue to work with the Public Advisory Committee to finalize the recommendations in order to move to the design phase of project development.
Any member of the public who is interested is encouraged to attend the meeting on August 25th to provide MaineDOT with their thoughts on the proposed reconstruction recommendations.
For more information concerning the public meeting or this segment of the Route 1 corridor, please contact Stephanie Clark at MaineDOT by calling 624-3262 or emailing Stephanie.firstname.lastname@example.org.
