Secretary Dunlap to visit with ?Voter Reg Rumble? participants

AUGUSTA ? Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap is celebrating the winners of the department?s first-ever voter registration competition, the 2016 Voter Reg Rumble, with two upcoming school visits.

Secretary Dunlap will meet with students at Bates College in Lewiston and with the Brunswick High School Student Government group. Both groups of students held successful voter registration drives as part of the contest, which began in September. The visits will be Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Bates Dining Commons, 2 Andrews Road, Lewiston; and Monday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Brunswick High School, 116 Marquoit Road, Brunswick. These events are not open to the public, but media is welcome to attend.

The Voter Reg Rumble competition invited colleges and high schools statewide to host their own voter registration drive, with the winning schools at each level to receive a visit from the Secretary, who oversees elections in the State of Maine.

Both groups will have an opportunity to meet with Secretary Dunlap in a small-group setting. He will be discussing the importance of voting and the challenges of overseeing the elections process, as well as listening to students? ideas and concerns.
