Panama (1989)

The invasion of Panama had as its key objectives the capture of Manuel Noriega and the establishment of a democratic government in Panama. In military action known as Operation Just Cause, America applied strong combat power when it was determined that it was no longer safe for U.S. military forces and other U.S. citizens in Panama.

On December 20, 1989, the 82nd Airborne Division conducted their first combat jump since WWII on to Torrijos International Airport, Panama.

The U.S. troops involved in Operation Just Cause achieved their primary objectives quickly, and troop withdrawal began on December 27, 1989.
