What is a Service Catalog?
A service catalog is a listing of Information Technology Services sorted by name or IT workgroup. It is a detailed listing of available services for the use of business managers, project managers and Information Technology groups to plan and budget for IT services delivery.
Each catalog section clearly indicates which services are included in our published rate schedules and which services require additional billing based on usage or time based charges.
One example of additional fees charged is the email system. Enterprise solutions division will charge a set monthly fee for an assigned email account with a defined mailbox limit of 100 MB. Individuals wishing to increase their email storage are charged $2.00 per month per 100 MB increment of additional storage.
This type of information helps the business manager manage their IT budget through managing how their employees use their email. Depending on business needs, the manager may want to increase mailbox sizes for certain accounts or ask employees to clean out their mailboxes by using archives to store emails that have been read and need to be retained.
