He has given more than 1,000 guitar and songwriting workshops at colleges, festivals, libraries and museums throughout the US and, in addition, has penned many compositions for guitar and piano; has authored a screenplay and a musical; and has recorded two CDs. He is currently at work on a self-instructional guitar technique book.
Gibson has been a finalist in several songwriting contests, including the Kerrville New Folk, John Lennon, Great Lakes, and Nashville Songwriters Association contests. He teaches acoustic and electric guitar in many styles including blues, folk, bluegrass, country and classical.
In 2005, Gibson co-curated a guitar exhibit at the Colby College Museum of Art that featured 108 rare and vintage and guitars from collectors and Maine's finest luthiers. In this performance, he will perform on a one-of-a-kind Maine guitar and a Stephen King-designed Cujo guitar.
