We had someone come in and it felt like an audit of sorts...this was a while back and I am not remembering the details now. It was discussed a lot on list-servs at the time. 15:50:42 From Lisa Shaw - Maine State Library to Everyone : The act of photographing or filming the activities of library users by a third party has generally been addressed as a behavior issue or a media relations issue by libraries. Here are some examples of how libraries have addressed these issues: Chicago Public Library specifically bars the photography or recording of library users in its “Library Use Guidelines.” St. Louis Public Library’s more detailed “Photography, Filming and Videography Policy” bars photographers from taking identifiable images of other library users and establishes rules for media. The Shaker Heights Public Library maintains a Media Relations Policy that addresses both photography and newsgathering in the library. Saint Paul Public Library’s “Photography and Videography Policy” requires those who wish to use cameras and/or recording equipment to obtain advance approval from a supervisor, in order to “protect library users who may be endangered or inconvenienced by having their photo or video image taken in the library.” 15:50:52 From Julie - Cumston Public Library to Everyone : BUT showing the video to others, it could be considered an invasion of privacy (this would be for a court to determine) which would be grounds for a lawsuit. 15:51:11 From Kathleen Kramer to Everyone : If you google first amendment audit Harrison town office, you can see what happened there 15:51:37 From Kathleen Kramer to Everyone : "auditors" uploaded to youtube 15:52:33 From Mamie Anthoine Ney, Auburn PL to Everyone : "insane! chaos" 15:52:59 From Jerry Lund to Everyone : Does the 1st Amendment require auditing? 15:53:50 From Jerry Lund to Everyone : I am glad they are being productive members of society 15:54:07 From Lesley Unger Springvale PL to Everyone : Thank you so much for the information! 15:54:57 From Julie - Cumston Public Library to Everyone : Offer them a library card - that'll get rid of them quick. 15:55:10 From Lisa Shaw - Maine State Library to Everyone : LOL Julie!! 15:55:17 From Lesley Unger Springvale PL to Everyone : Makes me glad that we are closed for curbside! 15:55:37 From Nancy Petersons to Everyone : Does anyone know about a Ladybug tool for reading on Zoom.
