Meeting Cancellation Memo

In light of the ongoing pandemic and the recommendation from the Center for Disease Control that gatherings of more than 10 people that include higher-risk individuals be postponed, the Maine Human Rights Commission is cancelling its April 6, 2020 meeting

All cases that were scheduled for April will be placed on the agenda for the Commission’s May 4th meeting.  If you had a case scheduled for the April Meeting, and have a conflict with the May 4th meeting date, please let us know as soon as possible.  While we are hoping that the spread of COVID-19 will be contained in the next several weeks, we will be monitoring the situation and will evaluate whether or not to go forward in May as the meeting date draws closer.

Additionally, if your case was scheduled for the April Meeting, please note that we are NOT extending the deadline for any submissions of disagreement in cases that were scheduled for the April meeting.  The deadline that was set in the transmittal letter accompanying the Investigator’s Report in your case remains in place.  As the transmittal letter stated, if you do not make a timely submission by the date set in that letter, you will not be allowed to address the Commission and the case will be placed on the consent agenda and the report’s recommendations will be adopted without argument.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at (207) 624-6290 or info@mhrc.maine.gov. In the meantime, be well and stay safe.
