ARPA Grants

ARPA: American Rescue Plan Act

Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund

MaineDOT is administering a $20 million grant program that will provide direct funding to municipalities, tribes, and state agencies for stormwater, drinking water, and wastewater infrastructure projects that address climate effects, such as flooding, vulnerability to extreme weather, etc.

  • Funding is through the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan.
  • The program is a leading recommendation of Maine’s 2021 four-year Climate Action Plan, entitled Maine Won’t Wait. It was developed in recognition that many communities need access to funding to prioritize resiliency projects and to secure local matching funds needed for federal infrastructure projects.
  • Financial assistance will range from thousands of dollars to millions based on the scope of the project.
  • MaineDOT is finalizing grant program rules this winter and anticipates issuing a request for application by April 2022.
