An Act To Protect Consumers from Credit Card and Debit Card Holds
SUMMARY
This bill would prohibit merchants from placing a hold on a credit or debit card for an amount more than is actually spent. Merchants and credit and debit card companies would have one hour from the actual sale to reduce the temporary hold amount to no more than the actual mount of the sale rounded to the nearest dollar.

An Act To Require Insurance Companies To Notify the Secretary of State when a Motor Vehicle Has Been Insured
SUMMARY
Current law requires an insurance company to notify the Bureau of Motor Vehicles when a motor vehicle's insurance has expired. The insurance company does not have to notify the bureau when a motor vehicle has been insured. This bill would require an insurance company to notify the Bureau of Motor Vehicles when a motor vehicle has been insured.

An Act To Amend the Maine Insurance Guaranty Association Act
SUMMARY
This bill would permit the Workers' Compensation Board to audit workers' compensation claims administered by the Maine Insurance Guaranty Association. Under current law, the Workers' Compensation Board does not have that authority. The Maine Insurance Guaranty Association administers claims of insolvent carriers made by Maine residents formerly insured by an insolvent carrier.
