InforME staff has spent quite a bit of time working on the new homepage design for the State of Maine. We have used four focus groups to provide input to the design and navigation.
The legislature has requested a meeting to discuss the migration of the Janus server. Once we address their issues, we will proceed with the migration plan.
We have had several meetings with the staff of the CEC (Corporations, Elections and Commissions) and are pleased to be making good progress towards these important services.
We have participated in meetings surrounding the State Treasurers response to the Blue Ribbon Commissions recommendations to the legislature regarding acceptance of credit cards.
InforME hopes to play a major role in the new charge from Governor King that Maine become a leader in the country in the area of e-commerce in the next eighteen months. In our effort to be the best state partner, we will work to assist in the identification of which services are best to attack, in which order, etc.
Our design team continues to have a very full calendar, having successfully launched two very large web design projects, the Secretary of States web site and Governor Kings web site, as well as an additional five projects in the works. We do anticipate new design projects to present themselves in the weeks to come.

State of Maine
We have consulted with the Department of Education concerning the School Profile site, advising in both design and navigation.
The Department
of Agriculture, Marketing and Production
We have begun our preliminary meetings with the Department of Agriculture to reconstruct the current design for the Maine Foods and Farms pages. We will design a new look and feel, easier navigation, and an improved search function that will allow users to locate farms in Maine.
The Department
of Public Safety
1/24/00 State of Maine Accessibility Committee Val Wood, Gil
Whitmore, Kathy Powers, Pauline LaMontagne, Floyd White,
InforME is required by contract to create ADA compliant web sites. Since national standards are still being developed, and since technology is rewriting the guidelines more quickly than they can be written, we decided that our participation on the Accessibility committee would be an excellent strategy for assuring that we not only remain accessible, but set an example for other states as well.
2/1-2/4 Ethics Commission -
We are participating in the presenetation phase of the RFP released by the Ethics commission for the online campaign finance reporting software and database. InforME is slated to develop the front end of this application.
2/2/00 Michael Lombardo City of Augusta
We are continuing to pursue the idea of adding value to existing or planned InforME services by implementing a local government application. In addition to the motor vehicle excise tax, we have identified a snowmobile excise tax. InforME is slated to offer snowmobile registration renewal as a part of the IF&W storefront, perhaps this could be an additional service. We are fairly certain that a piggyback service that could be offered to all municipalities, not just one, is the only direction we should consider at present.
2/3/00 Department of Public Safety Security Audit First Security
DPS hired an outside firm to do security testing on all their internal, external and partner systems. They asked InforME to participate since we will be hosting their website and are planning to build some applications for the agency.
2/3/00 Courts Violations Bureau
InforME is very interested in enabling citizens to pay traffic and speeding tickets online. The Violatios Bureau has experienced a huge increase in the number of violations but have not been able to increase staff to meet the demand. They have been investigating an IVR system for a few years.
Ongoing PFR
InforME continues to work
steadily towards an SLA with PFR. We
are currently perfoming the technical investigation necessary to set benchmarks
for the development of the applications desired by the department.
2/7/00 Department of Transportation Sue Moreau
DOT is working closely with their counterparts in
New Hampshire and Vermont in an effort to create a Travel New England portal
for the web. Wanted to tie in with
InforME.
