Evening Wildlife Tour

Date: June 6, 2019

Time: 6:30 PM

Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm Space Limited: First 20 people Fee:$8/pp Join Swan Island staff for an evening wildlife sightseeing tour to observe wildlife when they are more visible. Enjoy riding in our new trolley the length of the island through a variety of habitats. Dress for the weather & don't forget your binocs/camera!

Lobster Bake with boat tour of Little Swan Island

Time: 3:30pm - 6:30pm Space Limited: First 50 people Fee: $40 advance payment required. Call 207-287-5322; Bring the family out for some time on the water viewing Little Swan Island, then stop at the campground for a traditional lobster bake! Clams, lobster, corn, potato, coleslaw, and dessert. Dress for the weather, as it can be cooler and breezy on the water. Bring your camera and/or binoculars!

Scouting and Setting up Deer Stands/Blinds *NEW

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers hosts a Field Day with workshops focusing on scouting and setting up stands and blinds. Come look for deer sign and learn from local experts. Event reservations here: https://www.backcountryhunters.org/newenglandbha You must also make an island/ferry reservation.

Fathers Day - FREE Admission for Maine Residents

The history of Swan Island and surrounding communities are deeply intertwined, creating a profound sense of appreciation by area residents and visitors. Boat Tour of Swan Island

Time: 9am - 11am Space Limited: First 40 people Fee: Free! Come enjoy some time on the water as we explore the shores of Swan Island from the river. Dress for the weather, as it can be cooler and breezy on the water. Bring your camera and/or binoculars! Seating for 32 people - but you can bring a chair.

Swan Island takes part in Richmond Days Celebration

Date: July 27, 2019

Time: Ferry/truck tours at 11:15am, 1:15pm, 3:15pm and 5:15pm from mainland Fee: $5 per person. 5yrs &under free. Each tour will leave the Swan Island landing in the island ferry and travel across the river for a 2-hour tour in our new trolley; returning directly to the dock. The Tubbs-Reed house, filled with many historic island artifacts, will be open to the public! Once back at the dock, you can join in many other Richmond Days festivities. Space is limited, so make sure you put your name on the list at the Friends of Swan island booth located in the Island parking lot. For more information on Richmond Days visit www.richmondmaine.com.

5K & 10K Road Races on Swan Island, Kennebec River, Richmond!

Time: 7:30 AM

Time: 7:30am - 12:00pm Space Limited: First 100 people Fee: $25.00 Pre-register online at www.richmondmaine.com. Board the ferry at 7:30 a.m. (maybe 8am, TBD) to be ferried over to Swan Island. Race kicks off at 9:00a.m. This year the 10K traverses the scenic gravel road from the campground to the southern end of the historic island and the 5K goes to the northern end.

Historical Tour with Friends of Merrymeeting Bay I

Date: September 6, 2019

Time: 9:15am to 1:00pm Fee: $8/pp
Space Limited: First 40 people Step back in time with Friends of Merrymeeting Bay (FOMB) on their ever-popular historical tour of Swan Island. FOMB member and Friends of Swan Island president, Jay Robbins, will lead the tour to the unique, isolated island.
We'll go by ferry around to the east side campground. Here we'll split into two groups of up to 20. One group will take the new trolley tour and other group will have programming at the boathouse. Then groups will switch. We'll leave from campground just before 1:00pm to return to Richmond landing. Folks can bring a snack or lunch, or eat in Richmond upon return. Mentored Deer Hunt

Date: October 5, 2019

Time: 6:00 AM

10 preselected first time deer hunters who have been mentored by IFW staff will take to the field on the island today with their mentor. A tagging station will be set up at the campground to register an collect biological data from harvested deer. The public is welcome to come and ask questions of staff. Public access will be restricted south of the wildlife viewing tower for the day.
