What is OneMAP for ME?
MAP IT ONCE, USE IT MANY TIMES
|DATA ACQUISITION BUDGET|
|Anticipated Funding Partners||$8,390,700.00|
The GeoLibrary, in cooperation with the Maine Office of GIS and, through their respective legislatively mandated responsibilities, initiated a strategic planning process in 2008. That process identified eight key mapping data layers (SEE EXAMPLES BELOW) where stewardship is rightfully designated as a statewide service requiring systematic and coordinated approaches to improving the state's mapping data. The Board has attempted to meet these needs through collaborative efforts but has consistently fallen short of meeting the state's needs.
The GeoLibrary's 'OneMAP for ME' program responds to this need for current authoritative mapping data. By acquiring data for large geographic areas and partnering with other users the Board can reduce the costs of acquisition and/or leverage funds from other partners to pay for the costs of acquisition. The GeoLibrary Board proposes a six million dollar bond for continuing investment in geospatial data important to the development community and management of Maine's assets. This Bond anticipates leveraging an investment of an additional $8 million from other private, non-profit, state, federal, local, and county sources.
