Offshore Wind - Public Engagement

Through a variety of means GEO will solicit the participation of local officials, Maine tribal representatives, marine interests, commercial fishing, energy and environmental organizations, academics, scientists, business and labor in the Initiative.

GEO is developing a formal process, in coordination with other state agencies, to ensure the continued collaboration among entities with the subject-matter expertise, practical experience, and professional interest necessary to responsibly advance offshore wind in the state.

Expected advisory groups for the Initiative will focus on fisheries; environment and habitat; and supply chain, ports, and workforce. Formal engagement by the Initiative is not yet scheduled but is anticipated to begin soon.
