On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers of the Maine State Police and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Blue Hill for a report of a domestic disturbance involving an injured woman being held against her will.  Peter Pfister, 27, was inside the residence, reportedly with firearms. The State Police Tactical Team and the State Police Crisis Negotiation Team responded to assist.  As a result of an armed confrontation, Mr. Pfister was shot and killed outside the residence by Detective Scott Duff and Cpl. Caleb McGary of the State Police and Deputy Sheriff Dylan Hall of Hancock County.

The woman in the residence was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public

As is standard procedure in all deadly force incidents involving law enforcement, the two troopers and the deputy sheriff are on administrative leave. The cause and manner of the death of Mr. Pfister are part of the investigation by the Maine Attorney General’s Office.  The State Police and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office are cooperating with the investigation.

No further information will be released during the pendency of the investigation

On Monday, May 30, 2022, at approximately 9:12 a.m. the Regional Communications Center in Augusta received a 911 call from 513 Main Street in Vassalboro. Neighbors of the apartment complex reported a disturbance, saying they heard arguing and then gunshots.
 
Maine State Police Troopers responded to the scene and located one deceased male and one injured male inside one of the apartments. The injured male was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A third male involved in the incident was uninjured. 
 
The three males lived at the apartment complex. State Police Major Crimes Detectives are on scene interviewing witnesses and processing the scene along with Evidence Response Technicians. That work will continue throughout the night. 
 
The deceased was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed in the coming days.

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, Maine State Police Detectives arrested and charged 19-year-old Andrew Huber Young of Wells, with Murder.  Andrew Huber Young is accused of shooting three people Saturday, May 21, 2022, at approximately 4:20 p.m. at a residence in Wells. Two males were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and a child has died as a result of her injuries. She has been identified as two-year-old Octavia Huber Young of Wells. An autopsy will be conducted in the coming days. At this point, we will not be naming the two male victims or discussing the victim’s relationships to the suspect.

Andrew Huber Young was transported to the York County Jail where he is being held without bail. Please contact the jail for a booking photo.
 
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the shooting with the assistance of the Wells Police Department.  

It is expected that Andrew Huber Young will face additional charges as the investigation proceeds.

On Sunday, February 6, 2022 at approximately 8:23 p.m. the Maine State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a male who had been shot. The information stated that a male identified as 32-year-old Adam Knowlton of Calais had been shot at a residence at 92 South Road in Calais. Knowlton was transported to a local hospital. The incident is under investigation however Knowlton is refusing to cooperate at this time. Knowlton received non-life threatening injuries. 

Waterville Police Detectives and State Police Major Crimes Detectives continue to investigate a shooting occurring on Western Ave in Waterville on Jan. 2, 2021.  

A 911 call was received at the Waterville Police Department at approximately 11:52 a.m.  Waterville Police responded and were later assisted by Maine State Police Major Crimes - Central.  A 2-year-old male was initially transported to Thayer Hospital in Waterville with a gunshot wound to the head.  He was later transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.  He is listed in critical condition at this time.

Investigation revealed one of the three siblings living in the home found the gun that was secured in a closet, loaded it, and a round was fired.  Police continue to investigate the incident and monitor the status of the juvenile. 
 

The victim of the shooting in Lewiston on Oct. 31, 2020, has been identified as Hassan Hassan, 18, of Lewiston. He died at Central Maine Medical Center this morning (Nov. 1, 2020) at 2:44 a.m. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completed the autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.
 
Detectives continue to work with the Lewiston Police Department in interviewing witnesses. Authorities still believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Maine State Police and the Lewiston Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred in Lewiston.
 
On Oct. 31, at approximately 7:35 p.m., Lewiston Police learned of a shooting on River Street. The victim was transported to Central Maine Medical Center and is being treated for critical injuries.  Maine State Police and Lewiston Police are on scene and will be investigating this throughout the evening. They are not releasing the victim’s information at this time. Investigators will release more information tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 1, 2020).  Authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. The death of 42 year old Derek Blyth has been ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner’s officer.  Blyth was shot to death in the apartment located at 345 Brunswick Street in Old Town at approximately 1:30 pm, Saturday afternoon.  The shooter has been identified and has been interviewed.  The investigation will continue to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.  At this time, no charges have been filed.  

UPDATE: Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit has obtained an arrest warrant for Jaquile Coleman, 26, of Lewiston, charging him with the murder of Natasha Morgan, 19, of Lewiston who was killed on Scribner Blvd in Lewiston.  If anyone has information on Coleman’s location or sees him please call 911 immediately.  Coleman should be considered armed and the public should not approach him. The Chevy Cruz has been located.

Maine State Police and Lewiston Police are investigating a shooting that took place earlier this afternoon on Scribner Boulevard in Lewiston.  As part of this investigation Police would like to speak with Jaquile Coleman.  Coleman is 26 years old and described as 5’6” 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen driving a 2013 silver Chevy Cruz with a temporary registration plate on the rear and a Harpswell Motors plate on the front.  If you have any information about Coleman’s location please call State Police Augusta dispatch or Lewiston police. On Monday, April 13, 2020,  at approximately 3 p.m., Troopers from Troop J responded to a report of a burglary in Surry.

Their investigation determined a white Honda Pilot SUV had also been stolen from the scene. Through their
investigation, Troopers developed Thomas A. Powell III, 31, of Old Town as a suspect. A statewide teletype was broadcast with the information on the stolen SUV.

Old Town Police checked the residence where Powell lived during the evening and around midnight, Officers found the Honda parked at Powell’s residence at 28 Bodwell St. Subsequent to the arrival of the SUV, Old Town Police received a call reporting gun shots in the area of that address Old Town and State Police established a perimeter around the residence, secured search and arrest warrants for Powell and did a limited evacuation of adjacent residences. State Police Crisis Negotiators and the Tactical Team were sent to the scene EMS personnel were also staged a short distance from the scene.

Around 2:30 a.m., officers made attempts to contact Powell through a PA system and got no response. Attempts to contact Powell remained unsuccessful until approximately 8:30 a.m., when Powell briefly appeared in a doorway and fired shots from a rifle at officers before retreating back into the residence. A few minutes later Powell again exited the home and an armed confrontation resulted in Powell being shot and killed by State Police. The incident ended just before 8:40 a.m.

The Troopers using deadly force were Trooper Garret Booth and Detective Scott Duff -- both members of
the Tactical Team. As with all police use of deadly force cases, the Maine Attorney General’s Office is the primary investigating agency.

The two State Police officers have been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is normal protocol in these cases.
