Northern Field Troop Weekly Report for Sept. 4 through Sept. 10

On Sept. 6, 2022, while patrolling in the town of Mattawamkeag Tr. Dwelley noticed a vehicle known to drive around Crystal Twitchell 35 y/o of Mattwamkeag. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and two individuals were loading things into it. Tr. Dwelley knew Twichell had multiple arrest warrants one of which for Class B Burglary. Twitchell had been on the run for several months. Tr. Dwelley pulled into the driveway and recognized Twitchell walking toward the house. Tr. Dwelley arrested Twitchell and transported her to Penobscot County Jail without incident. 

On Sept. 9, 2022, while patrolling in the town of Mattawamkeag Tr. Dwelley noticed a silver Dodge challenger Hellcat doing a burnout on main street and traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. Tr. Dwelley conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and as a result, Ira Averill 62 y/o of Prentiss, was arrested and charged with OUI Alcohol and exceeding the speed limit by 30MPH or more.    

On Sept. 10, 2022, Tr. Creamer was on patrol on I-95 in Etna when he observed a vehicle speeding north bound on I-95. Trooper Creamer stopped the vehicle and after speaking with the operator Robin Morris 38 YOA of Minot was found to have a revoked license.  Morris was charged for OAR and his vehicle was towed.

On Sept. 9, 2022, Cpl. Dube was patrolling on I95 in Bangor when a silver Toyota sedan bearing ME PC 3605VY passed on the right at a high rate of speed.  The operator was found to be travelling 91 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone in a busy section of interstate in Bangor.  The operator was identified as Felicia Comando, 23 YOA of Danforth.  Comando was summonsed for criminal speed. 

On Sept. 10, 2022, Tr. Haverly-Johndro responded to a possible personal injury crash, located in Stetson.  Upon arrival, Tr. Haverly-Johndro observed a vehicle had crashed into a utility pole, splitting the pole in half.  Tr. Haverly-Johndro was unable to locate anyone with the vehicle.  Further investigation lead Tr. Haverly-Johndro to locating the operator of the vehicle the next day.  Tr. Haverly-Johndro charged Chase Mitchell (24 years old of Stetson) with failing to notify by quickest means of a property damage crash.

On Sept. 5, 2022, Cpl. Jeff Taylor and Sgt. Jeff Ingemi responded to a third-party report of a verbal argument at the White Birches in Hancock.  Upon arrival, troopers located and identified a couple in a vehicle talking. As a result of the investigation, Carl Miller, 33, of Hancock, was arrested for domestic violence assault.    

On Sept. 8, 2022, Tr. Nelson stopped a vehicle travelling 97mph in a 60mph zone. Tr. Nelson initiated the stop at 187 NB and made contact with the driver, Bethany Carr (35 of Canaan). She stated she was late for work, and thought she was going around 80mph. Bethany was summonsed for Criminal Speed.  

              
On Sept. 8, 2022, Tr. Gould responded to a seasonal residence in Lakeville where it was reported sometime in the last two days someone cut the lock on the victim’s trailer. The suspect stole a brand-new Milwaukee branch cutter and damaged the residence’s motion sensor lights.  No identified suspects at this time.  Investigation continues.

On sept. 8, 2022, Tr. Olmstead observed a red Nissan Altima pulling out of a gas station onto Griffin Rd. in Bangor without its headlights on at nighttime. Tr. Olmstead conducted a traffic stop. The operator was identified as Michael Voye, 45 of Bangor. Michael’s license was currently suspended. Tr. Olmstead summonsed Michael for OAS. 

On Sept. 7, 2022, Tr. Ramp stopped a vehicle for traveling 93mph in a 60-mph zone on Interstate 95 in Bangor. Tr. Ramp identified the operator as Daniel Bachner, 20 of Gorham. Tr. Ramp summonsed Bachner for criminal speed. 

On Sept. 10, 2022, at approximately 0855 hours, Tr. Plaisted took a complaint from; Stacy Castonguay, 56, of Stetson. Stacy reported that her brother, Thomas M. Stevens, 52, of Gray is driving without a license in the Stetson area and is an alcoholic. Stacy provided a vehicle description and plate number. Tr. Plaisted told Stacy he would see about locating him. Tr. Plaisted also determined that Thomas license was revoked, and his vehicle license plates were false attached. At approximately 1012 hours, Tr. Plaisted locate Thomas driving on the Burleigh Road in Stetson. Thomas was in the vehicle described by Stacy. Tr. Plaisted stopped the vehicle and Thomas was the sole occupant. Thomas was arrested and charged with OAR, Class C, VCR, Class C and False Attachments of Plates; Class E. Thomas was transported to PCJ in Bangor. No bail was awarded. 

On Sept. 9, 2022, Tr. Kurth summonsed Yi Li, 56 of Mattawamkeag, for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration. Li has previously been warned about his suspended registration. However, he has failed to pay toll fees – the cause for registration suspension. 

On Sept. 10, 2022 Tr. Einar Mattson stopped a vehicle on Main Street, Franklin for speeding. Tr. Mattson arrested the operator, Jesse Foster (42) Bucksport for OAS and a warrant for theft by deception / home repair fraud.

On Sept. 10, 2022, Tr. Kim Sawyer arrested Kari Lofgren (39) of Portland for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

12/20/21             

Tr. Watson and Tr. Gleaton were in Livermore when they noticed a vehicle plowed in on the side of the road. Tr. Watson and Tr. Gleaton found empty twisted tea cans in the vehicle and on the ground outside the vehicle, as well as a prescription containing suboxone prescribed to Christina Noll. The vehicle was registered to a person who is deceased. Tr. Gleaton was unable to contact Noll. The vehicle was towed, and the plates were seized. The suboxone was seized for safekeeping.

12/26/2021

Tr. Gleaton stopped a motor vehicle that had a suspended registration since September 2021 for failure to pay tolls. The plate covering was also heavily tinted, as well as the driver and passenger windows. Tr. Gleaton issued a VSAC for failure to register.

 

12/27/2021

Tr. Knight stopped a vehicle in Bridgton for multiple vehicle violations at 1300 hours. Tr. Knight determined the operator was impaired and she was arrested. Tr. Knight summonsed the operator for OUI and DTE.

Tr. Knight was called out to an overdose in Hiram. The subject’s father administered two doses of Narcan prior to Rescue’s arrival. The subject was stable upon Rescue’s arrival but was transported. Tr. Knight arrived on scene after the subject’s transport. 1g of Fentanyl was seized.

12/27/2021 -12/31/2021

Trooper Willard stopped (4) vehicles for Suspended Registration. All drivers were summonsed accordingly.

 

12/29/2021

Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on I-295 in Portland. At this time, he observed a vehicle quickly approaching him in lane one. On radar Tr. Lemieux saw the vehicle was traveling 80mph in a posted 50mph zone. Tr. Lemieux stopped the driver and cited him appropriately.

Tr. Lemieux was clearing a stop on I-295 in Portland when a truck passed him with a defective exhaust. Tr. Lemieux followed the vehicle into Portland and saw a defective brake light. The vehicle pulled into the Park and Ride on Marginal Way. Tr. Lemieux stopped the vehicle and the driver jumped out and started walking towards the front of the vehicle. The driver yelled at Tr. Lemieux and finally got back into the vehicle after he was ordered to several times. The driver originally provided his brother’s name and date of birth. The driver later provided his name as being Charles Corant of Fryeburg. CORANT had a revoked driver’s license. Inspecting the vehicle, it was found it had a fictitious inspection. The vehicle was towed and CORANT was issued a summons.

12/31/2021

Tr. Lemieux stopped a vehicle in Durham for expired inspection. He made contact with the driver who was identified as Sharod Nunes of Freeport. Nunes had a revoked driver’s license and was on probation and bail. NUNES was searched and issued a summons. The passenger who had an active license drove the vehicle away. Tr. Nilsen assisted with the stop.

01/01/2022

Tr. Willard stopped a vehicle for traveling 95 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. The operator John Kelley (20) was summonsed accordingly.

Tr. Willard stopped a vehicle for traveling 87 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.  The operator Taylor McKay (21) was summonsed accordingly.

Tr. Gleaton was southbound on 295 in Portland when a vehicle came up behind her going 98 mph in a 65-mph zone. Tr. Gleaton reduced the criminal speed to a VSAC of 29 mph over.

Troop B Weekly Report

Week Beginning: 06/14/2021 – 06/20/2021

On 06/15/2021, Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on I-295 in Cumberland when he noticed a vehicle in front of him riding on the fog line. At one point, half of the vehicle was in the brake down lane and the other half was in the right lane. The vehicle sped up to 92mph passing several vehicles. Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop where he made contact with the driver who was identified as Alyssa Amari (28). AMARI showed several signs of impairment. AMARI performed several standard and non-standard field sobriety tests. AMARI was placed under arrest and transported to the Freeport PD and was issued a USAC for OUI.

 

On 06/15/2021, Tr. Lemieux initiated a motor vehicle stop on I-295 in Falmouth. He made contact with the driver who was identified as Kevin Carroll (34) of Standish. CAROLL and his passenger both had a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was towed and CAROLL was cited appropriately.

 

On 06/16/21 Tr. Watson assisted Oxford P.D. with a theft complaint. A male fled Hannaford and was later located on a suspected stolen bike nearby. The suspect, Tanner Marston had items taken from Hannaford. It was later learned the both Oxford PD and Norway have been dealing with Marston frequently for thefts in the area. He has been trespassed from multiple stores to include Hannaford. He was arrested and charged by Oxford PD.

 

On 06/16/2021, Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on Rt. 136 in Durham. Just ahead of him he noticed a vehicle as it crossed over the fog line and center double yellow line several times. Tr. Lemieux initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the driver who was identified as Jacques Wasso (41) who had an active warrant for his arrest. The passenger in the vehicle did not have a driver’s license. The vehicle was towed and WASSO was placed under arrest.

 

On 06/18/2021, Cpl. Hink was requested to respond to PA’s Pawn Shop on Main Street in Oxford for a Burglary in progress where it was reported a male throwing firearm out the window.  Cpl. Hink arrived and assisted Cpl. Russell and K9 Gus with a K9 Building search.

 

06-19-2021- Members of the Maine State Police Honor Guard reported to the town of Moscow to attend the funeral service of Ret. Somerset County Sheriff Sgt. Hines.  The family had requested the presence of State Police Honor Guard due to the close working relationship of agencies.

On 06/19/2021, Cpl. Hink was requested to respond to Waterford Road in Norway for a Burglary in progress where multiple doors were open on two businesses.  Cpl. Hink arrived on scene and had K9 Berry conduct a building search of the two businesses.  Nobody was located inside either building.

 

On 06/17/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with multiple defects on the Haines Corner Rd. It was the same car he had stopped a month ago for the same offenses. The driver, Joshua Swett was still suspended. His passenger, Jessica Lane admitted they were coming from a known drug house. Some intel was gathered because of the stop. Swett was charged accordingly.

On 06/19/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle for defects on Rt. 4 in Auburn. The driver, Shaquille Wright had a warrant for DV Assault and VCR. He was arrested and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail without incident.

Troop B Weekly Report 05/24/2021-05/31/2021

On 05/25/2021, Tr. Knight obtained a search warrant for medical records for William Peters who crashed his vehicle in Otisfield on May 8. The records indicated William was under the influence of alcohol at that time. Tr. Knight obtained an arrest warrant for William for OUI, Driving to Endanger and three counts of VCR. William has since been arrested on that warrant.

  

On 05/28/2021 Tr. Lemieux was traveling south on I-295 in Portland. Traffic was very heavy at this time. Tr. Lemieux noticed a Jeep quickly approaching from the rear. Tr. Lemieux locked the speed of the vehicle at 85mph (posted 50mph zone). Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Seth Miller of South Portland. Miller was cited appropriately.

On 05/29/2021, Tr. Lemieux made contact with three drivers that were speeding on I-95. The first a 17-year old male from Massachusetts was traveling at 111 mph. In York, Tr. Lemieux stopped an 18-year old male from Massachusetts that was traveling at 104 mph. The third was a 19-year old male from Sanford traveling 100 mph. All drivers were cited appropriately. The posted speed limit on I-95 is 70 mph.

 

On 05/30/2021, Trooper Pyburn stopped DAKOTAH BAILEY on Old County Road in the town of West Paris. BAILEY was observed operating an ATV a high rate of speed on Route 219, after passing Trooper Pyburn. BAILEY briefly attempted to evade Trooper Pyburn, turning onto several private and posted roads, before eventually stopping. Warden Smith responded to the scene to assist and BAILEY was summonsed accordingly.

On 05/18/2021, Massachusetts State Police had a vehicle crash in which the Operator fled on foot. The vehicle’s registration came back to a Sumner address. Troopers conducted interviews with the previous owner, Dolsie Bragg. Bragg had sold the vehicle in question to her boyfriend’s nephew Diego Martinez out of Sabattus. The family assisted in giving some locations in Mass that Martinez may go to. Martinez had multiple warrants at the time. Information about him was relayed to Mass SP to alert them on his most recent activity and escalation in Maine. He was successfully located and arrested in Mass.

On 5/29/2021 and 5/31/21, Troopers Watson and Willard conducted a directed patrol in the area of County Road in the town of Turner and other surrounding roads including Route 4 and Snell Hill Road.  There has been recent intel suggesting of increased traffic and possible drug activity.  In the span of two days Troopers contacted 29 vehicles resulting in 3 VSAC’s and 1 USAC’s being issued.  Four vehicle searches were conducted resulting in paraphernalia and small amount of drugs.  The information stems from recent traffic stops Trooper Watson had in the same area resulting in drug seizures.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with an expired registration in Turner. The operator, Eric Merrill admitted the plates were false attached and he was suspended. The plates were pulled, and he was charged accordingly.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with a loud exhaust in Turner. The operator, Nathan Howard showed a suspended status. The vehicle was parked. Charges are pending based on follow-up with Howard.

On 05/29/2021, Tr. Lemieux was working a minimum shift on Troop G. At this time, Tr. Lemieux was posted in a cross over in York on I-95. Tr. Lemieux saw a vehicle quickly approaching from the rear. He saw on radar the vehicle was traveling 94mph. Tr. Lemieux stopped the

vehicle and identified the driver as Vincent Visconti of North Andover MA. VISCONTI had an expired/suspended license out of Massachusetts. The vehicle was towed, and VISCONTI was cited appropriately.

On 05/29/2021, Tr. Knight stopped a vehicle in Bridgton for no front plate and expired inspection sticker. The operator, Zachary Laney of Bridgton, was found to have a suspended license. The vehicle was not registered, and Zachary admitted to having no insurance on it. Zachary was summonsed accordingly and issued multiple VSACs.

On 05/26/2021, Kyle Leblanc (30 of Brunswick) passed Tr. James in the right-hand lane of I295. Upon making contact with Kyle, it was also determined his registration was suspended due to toll violations. Leblanc was charged accordingly on all charges.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. James responded to a two-vehicle crash on I295 in Brunswick. One of the vehicles involved had a previous driving complaint made on it south of Freeport. The driver of that vehicle, David James (35 of Dresden), stated he was very tired and found himself not remembering much of the drive from Portland. Tr. James could smell the odor of alcohol coming from David. He was brought to Topsham PD for a breathalyzer test and was charged with Driving to Endanger.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with a suspended registration in Turner. The operator, Heather McEwen was also suspended and on probation. McEwen claimed to have driven from Windham to Bretton’s with her passenger, Nathaniel Rines for food. A search was conducted, and the vehicle was towed away. McEwen was charged accordingly.
