Troop F Weekly Report 04-04 to 04-11-21

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider was driving through Caribou and observed a vehicle with a defective exhaust.  A traffic stop was conducted and after an investigation, the passenger in the vehicle was arrested for an active warrant for FTA on drug charges from MDEA in Portland.  The passenger was on probation, which was revoked, and the warrant did not authorize bail.  Tr. Rider brought the individual to Caribou PD for holding due to the Aroostook County Jail being closed due to COVID.

Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Clark was at Presque Isle District Attorney’s office and was made aware of a man, who is well known by law enforcement, in the parking lot with an arrest warrant from York County.  Sgt. Clark located the man and told him he was being arrested on the warrant.  The man said he was not aware there was one for him and cooperated with the arrest.  He was taken to Caribou PD for holding due to the Aroostook County Jail still being closed due to COVID.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier assisted Fort Kent PD with a man that had a suspended driver’s license and would not cooperate with the local officer.  Tr. Desrosier spoke with the man and was able to help calm him.  The man was summonsed for OAS and walked home.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Saint Agatha when he observed a vehicle that appeared to purposely park in the parking space to avoid him.  Tr. Desrosier conducted a registration query on the vehicle and discovered the vehicle had an expired/inactive plate.  Tr. Desrosier spoke with the driver and learned he had a suspended driver’s license, two arrest warrants and two sets of bail conditions.  The man was arrested for OAS, unregistered motor vehicle, and violating his conditions of release.  The vehicle was towed from the parking lot.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Sinclair when he met a speeding vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped, and an investigation revealed the passenger had an active arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.  Tr. Desrosier arrested the passenger and issued the driver a traffic summons for speeding.  The passenger was able to post bail on the warrant and was released.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider was in Woodland and came upon a vehicle stopped at an intersection, however, the vehicle was not moving.  Tr. Rider stopped to check the driver and after an investigation arrested the man for OUI.  After further investigation, and a DRE evaluation by Tr. Desrosier, the man was charged with OUI drugs, OAS, and possession of suspected fentanyl.  The man was taken to Caribou PD and placed bail.

Trooper:                   Tr. Cotton

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton charged a Presque Isle woman with criminal speed. Tr. Cotton was monitoring traffic on the interstate when he clocked a vehicle on  radar traveling northbound on the interstate at 105 MPH.  The woman was excited to be headed home for the weekend.

Town:                        Ludlow

Trooper:                   Tr. Cotton

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was monitoring traffic on the interstate in Ludlow when he observed 2 vehicles traveling closely together.  He clocked the vehicles on radar at 92 MPH and was able to get them both to pull over.  Once he pulled the vehicles over, he determined that the operator of one of the vehicles had a suspended license.  The man was charged for Operating After Suspension and cited for his speed as well.  The second vehicle was also cited for his speed.

Trooper:                   Tr. Cotton

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton stopped a vehicle on I-95 in Ludlow for speeding.  After speaking with the operator, it was apparent he had been drinking.  Tr. Cotton conducted a roadside investigation and arrested the operator for Operating Under the Influence of alcohol.  The man was arrested without incident

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier took a theft report at the windmill farm in Oakfield.  The victim reported the theft of a catalytic converter.  The investigation is ongoing.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon charged a 31-year old Mapleton man with OAS after stopping his vehicle in Presque Isle for an exhaust violation.  A family member was called to drive the vehicle from the scene.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon stopped a vehicle in Houlton after it drove past him and he observed the vehicle had no license plates.  Through his roadside investigation, Tr. Mahon learned the 24-year old male passenger of Houlton had four warrants for his arrest.  The warrants were for Failure to Appear for Domestic Violence charges.  Tr. Mahon arrested the male and transported him to Caribou PD.  The operator, a 38-year old Island Falls man was cited for several traffic violations and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was working a distracted driver detail when he observed a vehicle pass a vehicle on a double solid yellow line.  Tr. Mahon stopped the vehicle, that did not have any license plates on it for the violation.  As a result, Tr. Mahon summonsed the operator, a 40-year old Linneus man for insurance, registration, inspection and improper pass.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.
