From the desk of Shannon Moss, DPS PIO

On Sunday, June 27, 2021 at approximately 3:39pm Maine State Police attempted to stop Chad Delano, 31, of Florida and Maine, on Route 2 in Etna, who previously led Piscataquis Sheriff’s Office, Dexter, and Newport police on high speed chases through their county and respective towns.  Delano failed to stop for a Trooper and continued into the town of Stetson.   The Trooper attempted to PIT the 2008 GMC Yukon Delano was operating. The  Trooper’s cruiser became disabled, and Delano continued to a residence on the Lapointe Road in Stetson, where he entered a residence and stole a vehicle.

Maine State Police requested an air asset from the Maine Forest Service, who was able to follow Delano in the stolen vehicle onto Route 222 from Levant in Bangor.  Penobscot County Sheriff’s deputies were able to lay spikes, and after continuing through the city of Bangor, Delano pulled into the Circle K on Broadway, where he attempted to steal another vehicle before Troopers took him into custody.

Delano was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after he told Troopers he ingested an unknown substance.  Delano was brought to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor and booked on the outstanding warrants, and will be charged with eluding an officer, passing a roadblock, driving to endanger, burglary and theft.

Maine State Police report no injuries.
