    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin pulled a vehicle over in Fort Kent for a traffic violation. Tr. Martin ran a warrant check on a male passenger who was in the vehicle. Tr. Martin discovered that the male had a probation revocation warrant from a domestic violence conviction. Tr. Martin placed the male under arrest, and he was transported to the Aroostook County Jail without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin responded to a motor vehicle crash in T15 R6.  The operator struck a moose causing reportable damage.  The registration on the vehicle was suspended for toll violations.  Tr. Curtin charged the Ashland woman with Operating with a Suspended Registration.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia received a traffic complaint of a vehicle operating erratically.  The caller advised the vehicle had almost hit another vehicle head on.  Tr. Sylvia located the vehicle parked at the Hodgdon/Houlton town line with a female operator behind the wheel.  As a result of Tr. Sylvia’s interaction with the female, he arrested her for Operating Under the Influence.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia received a fraud complaint from a resident in Amity.  The victim reported fraudulent charges on his credit card in the central Maine area.  The investigation is ongoing.

  • Troop G Weekly Report - 10/10/2022 - 10/16/2022

    On 10/13/2022, Tr. Lemieux and Sgt. Porter responded to MM 50 SB for a report of a male hitchhiking/walking on the side of the Turnpike. The male stated he was trying to get to the bus station and walked off the Turnpike after being given a verbal criminal trespass warning. 

    On 10/14/2022, Tr. Walp arrested Maxwell Main (22) of West Hartford, CT at mile marker 57 northbound on I-95. Tr. Walp responded to a two-vehicle crash. Main was suspected of driving under the influence. Main was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he was charged with Operating Under the Influence - Alcohol, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, and Driving to Endanger. Cpl. Sucy and Cpl. Cropper assisted.

    On 10/15/2022, Cpl. Cropper attended the Slow Down, Move Over awareness event at the 25 NB plaza in Kennebunk. This event was being held by the Towing & Recovery Association of Maine. Other events were held in MA and NH along I-95. Events in Maine were in Kennebunk, West Gardiner, and Bangor.

    On 10/15/2022, Cpl. Physic arrested Josue Martinez Sosa for Criminal Threatening. Sgt. Pappas assisted.

    On 10/16/2022, Tr. Foley stopped Abdikadir Abdulle (26) on I-95 on York for speeding in a construction zone. Abdulle displayed signs of intoxication for marijuana. Abdulle was arrested for operating under the influence and transported to Wells Police Department for a DRE screening. Abdulle was issued a summons for OUI.

  • Northern Field Troop Weekly Report Oct. 9 to 15

    On Oct. 9, 2022, Tr. Creamer went to 34 Highland Ave. in Bradley to speak with Kevin Lane 51 YOA of that address. While speaking with Kevin Tr. Creamer learned that Kevin had an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear.  Kevin was arrested and taken to Old Town PD where he was bailed by a bail commissioner.

    On Oct. 11, 2022, Tr. Bean stopped a vehicle for speed on Route 15 in Corinth, when he came in contact with operator Deven Flynn 36 YOA.  It was determined during the course of the stop that Deven had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear.  Deven was ultimately arrested and transported to Penobscot County Jail.

    On 10/15/2022, Tr. Haverly-Johndro was monitoring traffic on I-95 Northbound in Hampden.  Tr. Haverly-Johndro clocked a vehicle with his radar at 107 MPH in a marked 70 MPH zone.  Tr. Haverly-Johndro stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Abdirahim Mohamed (22 years old of Portland).  Abdirahim was subsequently charged with criminal speed.

    On 10/12/2022, Troopers responded to Glenburn for a reported disorderly complaint. As a result of the investigation, Preston Kay (20 years old of Glenburn) was arrested for a bail violation and charged with domestic violence assault and violation of conditional release.

    On Oct. 12, 2022, Cpl. Taylor arrested John Goodwin, 38 of Hancock, for having active warrants for his arrest after Goodwin called ‘911’ to see if he had any warrants for his arrest.  Hancock SO assisted.

    On Oct. 13, 2022, Cpl. Taylor responded to a theft complaint in Hancock where four vehicles at a fire department training site were missing their catalytic converters.  Investigation continues. 

    On Oct. 15, 2022, Cpl. Dube was patrolling I95 in Bangor and conducted a traffic stop on a sedan for poor operation.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as Corey Day, 53 YOA of Milford.  Signs of impairment were noted and SFST’s were conducted. Sgt. Bustard responded to assist.  Day was arrested for OUI and taken to Troop E for an intox test.  He was found to be over the legal limit and charged with OUI.

    On Oct. 13, 2022, Tr. Bragan was dispatched to a burglary on the Hudson Road in Corinth. It was reported the suspect uncrewed a panel on the back of the garage and made entry before stealing items from inside. As a result of the investigation, Andrew Wright (19yo). Tr. Bragan located Andrew at a residence in Hudson. Trooper Bragan conducted an interview with Andrew who admitted to being the one who broke in. Andrew was charged with burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. 

    On Oct. 12, 2022, Tr. Gould conducted a traffic stop on I-95 southbound in Hermon for a defective headlight.  Cosmo Braonin Rosalie Buck-Kennedy, (29) showed suspended status for medical reasons.  She was summonsed for OAS.
                  
    On Oct. 13, 2022, Tr. Gould conducted a traffic stop on I-95 southbound in Bangor for expired registration.  Ian-Tor Bright, (22), showed suspended status for failing to maintain liability insurance.  He was summonsed for OAS.
                  
    On Oct. 11, 2022, Tr. Nelson conducted a traffic stop at mm167 (Etna) for a vehicle going 100 in a 70 zone.  The driver, Destiny Duke (24), was summonsed for criminal speed.

    On Oct. 15, 2022, Tr. Mattson received a burglary complaint from a resident of Route 1 in Sullivan. 3 – 5 thousand dollars’ worth of artwork was taken. Investigation continues. 

    On Oct. 15, 2022, Tr. Sawyer responded to a PI crash involving a van and a bicycle.  Darrell Copeland (70) of Princeton backed his van from the Shell/Freshies parking lot across Main St. and struck a bicycle ridden by Chayann Dana (68) of Indian Twp.  Chayann was transported by ambulance to the Calais Hospital with minor injuries.

    On Oct. 15, 2022, Cpl. Silk stopped to check on a vehicle which was pulled over on the side of I95 in Old Town. While checking driver, Cpl. Silk observed indicators of illegal drugs in the vehicle. After an investigation, Allison Badger, 33 YOA was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine. 5.5 grams of Methamphetamine were located on Badger’s person and vehicle along with suspected Heroin, Xanax and homemade pills which will be tested at a later date.  

    On Oct. 16, 2022, at approximately 0931 hours, Tr. Plaisted was called out for a criminal mischief complaint at the Hudson Post Office.  The complainant called to report that a female subject broke a window after becoming upset. As a result of the investigation Tiffany Sanborn, 19, of Hudson was later located at her address and charged with criminal mischief. 
         
    On Oct. 9, 2022, Cpl. Reed stopped a vehicle on the Shore Rd. in Castine for traveling over 90MPh in a posted 45MPH zone. Driver was identified as Luke Simpson (22) of Rockport MA. He was issued a summons for criminal speed. The front passenger was identified as Joshua Goncalves-Radding (20) of NY, and he was issued a summons for possession of liquor by a minor after throwing alcohol out of the vehicle during the traffic stop. (NOTE: We corrected the spelling of Concalves-Radding)

    On Oct. 11, 2022, Tr. Rose took a theft report from a local plant Nursery, who reported that a customer had left with a few plants without paying. The investigation continues. 

    On Oct. 12, 2022, Tr. Rose issued an OAS-infraction ticket to Jacob Silverman (35) of Hancock after an interaction in Ellsworth where Silverman was operating a motor vehicle. 

    On Oct. 12, 2022, Tr. Rose investigated a crash in Blue Hill involving a vehicle that drove into the Walgreens building. No charges were filed as a result of the investigation. 

  • Troop F Weekly Report 10-17 to 10-23-22

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Saint Agatha and observed a vehicle with an expired inspection certificate by more than two years.  Tr. Roy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and after an investigation, it was discovered the registration plates were falsely attached, the female driver was suspended, and there was no insurance on the vehicle.  The woman admitted to knowing the plates did not belong to the vehicle, that there was no insurance, and to her license being suspended.  Tr. Roy also noted her tires were bald and the belt was exposed, the body of the car was severely rusted, and there were other mechanical issues.  Tr. Roy issued the woman a criminal summons for the false plates and for operating after suspension and issued her a traffic summons for the expired inspection and for not having insurance on the car.  The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was driving through Madawaska when he observed a vehicle with an expired inspection certificate and other deficiencies.  Tr. Roy stopped the vehicle and after an investigation discovered the male driver had an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.  The man was arrested without incident and brought to the Madawaska Police Department where he posted bail.  Tr. Roy also issued him a traffic summons for the expired inspection sticker.

    Town:                        new limerick

    Trooper:                   TR. CASTONGUAY

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement in New Limerick when he observed a motor scooter not displaying a registration plate.  Tr. Castonguay activated him emergency lights and siren, but the scooter operator refused to stop.  After a few moments, the male driver pulled over and stated he thought someone was “messing with him.”  Further investigation by Tr. Castonguay revealed the scooter was not registered or insured and the driver had a suspended driver’s license.  The man also had a warrant for his arrest.  Tr. Castonguay arrested the man and while searching him found a useable amount of methamphetamine in the male’s pocket.  The man was issued a criminal summons for OAS and possession of methamphetamines.  The man was able to post bail on the warrant.  The scooter was towed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement in New Limerick when he observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit.  Tr. Castonguay stopped the vehicle and after an investigation, it was discovered the male driver had a warrant for his arrest for failing to pay fines.  Tr. Castonguay arrested the man, brought him to the Troop F barracks, where he posted bail.  The man was issued a warning for speeding

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Merchant and Cpl. Casavant responded to the report of a rollover crash in Littleton. A passerby called in to advised he had come across a vehicle on its side on the McDonald Road in Littleton. The caller advised that he believed the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. Tr. Merchant and Cpl. Casavant arrived, and the female was still in the vehicle. The female was agitated and was refusing to do what she was being told. The female was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin responded to a residence in Van Buren after a man called to advise a female was trespassing on the property.  The Van Buren woman had been served a trespass notice in June of 2022.  Tr. Curtin located and charged the woman with Criminal Trespass as well as VCR.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin received a complaint of a possible bail violation in Saint Francis.  The caller advised he was the protected party on another man’s bail conditions stemming from an incident in Fort Kent.  The caller recently posted a vehicle for sale and the suspect contacted him about the vehicle.  As a result of Tr. Curtin’s investigation, he charged the Saint Francis man with VCR.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin responded to an Allagash residence after an out of state family member called to advise it looked like someone had broken into his father’s residence, which is currently vacant.  A local resident who looks after the property had contacted the caller to tell them it appeared someone had broken into the house.  Tr. Curtin responded and found evidence of a burglary.  Nobody has been at the house since February and at this point, it is unknown what is missing.  The investigation is ongoing.

  • /Troop G Weekly Report - 10/17/2022 - 10/23/2022

    On 10/17/2022, Cpl. Peckham stopped Austin Simmons (24) of NH for speeding on I-95 in Portland. Simmons initially provided a false name and was arrested on four warrants.

    On 10/18/2022, Tr. Anstett responded to a traffic complaint resulting in a hit-and-run on I95 in Cumberland. Investigation revealed that Finahi Arrieta (18) was operating in the left lane below the posted speed limit causing a traffic back up and possible road rage incident. A pickup cut off Arrieta, clipping her front bumper. Arrieta was charged with operating without a license, failure to keep right, and no insurance. Charges are pending for the fleeing truck.

    On 10/19/2022, Tr. Ellis stopped Omri Dekel (24) of Israel for criminal speeding 101/70 northbound on the ME turnpike in Kennebunk. He was summonsed for the speed.

    On 10/19/2022, Tr. Ellis stopped Nicholas Kelley (20) of Canada for criminal speeding 104/70 northbound on the ME turnpike in Arundel. He was summonsed for the speed.

    On 10/22/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Beth Perfect (36) of Lewiston on the ME Turnpike southbound in Scarborough.  Her ME driver’s license was found to be suspended (x7).  She was charged with Operating after Suspension and her vehicle was towed away.

    On 10/23/2022, Tr. Phillips was conducting traffic enforcement on I95 in the Wells area. While monitoring traffic, Tr. Phillips had a vehicle pass him traveling at 114 mph in a 70-mph zone. Tr. Phillips positioned himself behind the vehicle traveling SB when the vehicle increased its speeds to 130 mph.  Tr. Phillips conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle without issue. The driver was summonsed for criminal speed.

    On 10/24/2022, Tr. Phillips was conducting traffic enforcement on I95 in the Kennebunk area. While monitoring traffic, Tr. Phillips had a vehicle pass him in the crossover traveling at 104 mph. Tr. Phillips positioned himself behind the vehicle traveling NB when the vehicle increased its speeds to 120 mph. Tr. Phillips stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and only occupant. The driver has been suspended since 2005 for OUI. In the vehicle was an open container and the driver was clearly under the influence. The driver refused to conduct any tests. The driver was taken into custody and summonsed for OUI-Alcohol, Driving to Endanger, Operating After Suspension, and Criminal Speed.

  • Van Buren man creates police standoff after assaulting local man

    On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 9:17 am, the Maine State Police received a report of a man identified as 35-year-old Corey Vick, who was outside of a residence at 154 Castonguay Rd. in Van Buren, acting erratically.  At 9:25 am, the State Police received a call from a woman reporting that her husband had been assaulted by Vick outside the residence in an unprovoked attack.  The woman and her husband were able to flee the area to safety.  Troopers, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Border Patrol Agents responded to Castonguay Rd. to locate Vick.  When they arrived on scene, they determined that Vick was inside the residence and was verbally aggressive towards law enforcement and attempting to entice them to enter the residence. Vick reported that he had a firearm and would kill officers if they entered his home.  Law Enforcement set up a perimeter and began to contact him by cell phone.  The man continued to taunt and threaten to kill law enforcement if they came into the residence.  The State Police Tactical Team was consulted and responded to the scene along with the Crisis Intervention Team.  The Castonguay road was shut down. A search warrant was issued for the residence at 154 Castonguay Rd. and an arrest warrant was issued for Vick's arrest. The Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to deescalate Vick throughout the night without success.  At approximately 6:30 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, the Tactical Team made entry into Vick's residence and took him into custody.  Vick was transported to Cary Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and then transported to the Aroostook County Jail.  Vick has been charged with two counts of Assault, Criminal        Threatening, Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, two counts of Aggravated Criminal Mischief, and creating a police standoff.

  • Northern Field Troop Weekly for Oct. 16 to 24


    On 10/16/2022, Troopers responded to an address in Levant for a reported assault.  Troopers arrived on scene and learned that Dennis Mcgrath (70 years old of Levant) was assaulted by Timothy Vanidestine (71 years old of Levant).  Troopers learned that the dispute stemmed from Dennis discharging firearms on his property.  Further investigation revealed that Vanidestine was irritated with the loud shooting and walked over to where McGrath and reportedly assaulted and threatened him.  Troopers contacted the Maine Warden Service as it appeared McGrath was in violation of shooting to close to a dwelling.  Troopers and the Maine Warden Service measured the distance, and it was deemed there was a criminal violation.  Vanidestine was charged with assault and criminal threatening.  McGrath was charged with discharging a firearm to close to a dwelling.

    On 10/23/2022, Tr. Haverly-Johndro was assisting Cpl. Dube with a traffic stop in Carmel when he observed a vehicle travel past them with the muffler dragging on the roadway.  Tr. Haverly-Johndro stopped the vehicle and made contact with the operator and passenger.  Further investigation revealed the registration to the vehicle was suspended for a toll violation.  The vehicle came back registered to the passenger, John Clifford (58 YOA of Bangor).  Tr. Haverly-Johndro charged Clifford with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.

    On Oct. 22, 2022, Tr. Dwelley conducted a stop on a vehicle for several vehicle defects in Prentiss. Through the course of the stop, it was discovered that the driver, Jeffrey Macy 56 YOA of Carroll Plt. was suspended and the plates on the vehicle were falsely attached. Macy also had no insurance on the vehicle and had open containers of alcohol in the center console. Tr. Dwelley summonsed Macy accordingly and the vehicle was towed.

    On Oct. 22, 2022, Cpl. Dube conducted a traffic stop on a silver SUV for speed in Etna.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as Quentin Logan, 48 YOA, of Kittery.  The traffic stop revealed that Logan was suspended for Failure to appear.  Logan was issued a summons for OAS.
            
    On Oct. 19, 2022, Tr. Bragan was monitoring southbound traffic on I-95 in Hampden when he observed a vehicle and noted that the operator was not wearing a seatbelt. Tr. Bragan initiated at traffic stop and identified the driver as Michael Handy. Upon further investigation Tr. Bragan learned that Mr. Handy had a revoked status and was a habitual offender with two prior Operating After Revocation (OAR) convictions. Mr. Handy was also on bail. Mr. Handy was placed under arrest for felony OAR and violation of conditions of release. 


    On Oct. 20, 2022, Tr. Ramp stopped a vehicle for traveling 96 mph in a 70-mph zone.  Tr. Ramp identified the operator as Kyle Colegrove, 23, of St. Albans.  Tr. Ramp learned that Kyle’s license was suspended.  Tr. Ramp summonsed Kyle for OAS and issued him a VSAC for speeding.         

    On Oct. 21, 2022, Tr. Ramp was looking to speak with Cristina Mills, 38 of Etna regarding a crash.  Tr. Ramp was also aware that Cristina had an active warrant for her arrest.  Tr. Ramp located Cristina at her residence in Etna.  Tr. Ramp arrested Cristina on the warrant and transported her to the Penobscot County Jail where she was booked on the warrant.  Tr. Ramp also spoke with Cristina’s probation officer who placed a probation hold on her.    

    On 10/16/2022 at approximately 0930 hours Cpl. Hashey and Sgt. Meserve responded to a Personal Injury crash on the Exeter Road in Garland. The operator, 49-year-old Bridgette Hamilton of Garland was the only occupant of the vehicle. Hamilton was transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.  

    On Oct. 20, 2022, Cpl. Jeffrey Taylor responded to a burglary complaint at Hancock Grocery in Hancock. The suspect stole approximately $2800 in cash, checks, and change from the safe. Investigation continues.  

    On. Oct. 23, 2022, Sgt. Endre located a male wanted for DV assault by Ellsworth PD. Alan Van Reijsen (52) was arrested on the warrant in Ellsworth and transported to the Hancock County jail. Ellsworth PD assisted.
     

  • Readfield Fatal Crash

    On Sunday, October, 20, 2022 at approximately 3:00pm, Maine State Troopers responded to the area  of Scribner Hill Rd and Gorden Rd in Readfield for a reported single vehicle crash with serious injury and entrapment. Once on scene Troopers discovered the female driver 43-year-old Martha Shellman of Maine (the town is not known at this time) was already deceased. Martha had been operating a 2012 Dodge Journey southbound on Gorden Rd when she crossed the center line, went off the road and crash head on into a tree. Martha is believed to have been involved in another crash minutes prior in Belgrade. The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Belgrade crash. Speed and alcohol are both considered factors in the crash, but further investigation is needed. Martha was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. 

    Assisting the Maine State Police are the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, Readfield FD and Winthrop Rescue.
     

  • Troop F Weekly Report 10-24 to 10-30-22

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Rider was conducting traffic enforcement in Monticello and observed a pickup with the body removed and a snowmobile trailer, with its wheels still attached, welded to the frame.  The vehicle did not meet numerous inspection standards and was stopped.  After an investigation, it was discovered the driver, had two active arrest warrants.  The man was arrested without incident and brought to the barracks where he posted bail.  The truck was taken by the man’s brother back to his home.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Merchant responded to the Aroostook County Jail for a DRE. Houlton Police Department advised they had pulled a male over who they believed to be under the influence of drugs. Tr. Merchant conducted her evaluation and found that the male was under the influence of drugs.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Curtin took a theft report from a remote camp in Van Buren.  The victim called to report someone had stolen a generator from outside sometime within the last month.  The investigation is ongoing.

    Brief Synopsis:      While Tr. Curtin was at Van Buren High School following up from a previous complaint, they advised someone had passed a stopped school bus earlier in the morning.  As a result, Tr. Curtin charged a Van Buren man with Passing a Stopped School Bus.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Curtin and Cpl. Casavant responded to a Van Buren residence after a man called to report a female subject had shown up at his residence and was causing a disturbance.  After meeting with the complainant, it was determined no crimes had been committed but the owner of the residence wanted the female removed.  The woman was issued a trespass warning for the house and left willingly.  The female has been trespassed from several properties in Van Buren.

  • Silver Alert: Joseph Nolin

    The Maine Warden Service is issuing a Silver Alert for 74-year-old Joseph Nolin of Etna. Mr. Nolin was last seen Sunday morning, October 30, 2022 at approximately 8:45 am. He was in the area of his son’s residence on Dunham Road in Etna going to check game cameras. Mr. Nolin is a white male 5’9”, 160 lbs., with white hair and brown eyes. He does have a beard and wears glasses but it is unknown if he was wearing them at the time. He was last seen wearing jeans, a plaid shirt and is not wearing hunter orange. Mr. Nolin suffers from several medical conditions. He also does not have a cell phone. If located please call the Maine Warden Service at 207.973.3700 Opt. 9.
