  • Troop G Weekly Report 08/10/2020 - 08/16/2020

    On 08/10/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Yasir Abdi (20) of Lewiston on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling 30 MPH over the posted speed limit and nearing a work zone. 

    On 08/10/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Kennedy Brooks (25) of Lewiston on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  She was charged with traveling 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit.

    On 08/11/2020, Tr. Williams charged Coty Kelso (31), Steven Dumont (38), and Ashley Tempesta (35) with Aggravated Trafficking Sch. W Drugs Class A following a traffic stop in Kennebunk.  Steven was also arrested for an active arrest warrant.  Tr. Darcy assisted.

    On 08/12/2020, while working a minimum shift in Troop B, Tr. Darcy covered an 8-car crash northbound on I-295 in Falmouth. Tr. Darcy was dealing with a separate crash at the time the 8-car pile-up occurred. There were minor injuries and 5 vehicles were towed from the scene. Sgt. Burton, Tr. Burke, Tr. Flanagan, and Tr. Lemieux assisted. The scene was cleared in 44 minutes.

    On 08/12/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Theresa Macaskill (55) of Manchester NH for speeding.  Macaskill was doing 101 MPH in a posted 70 MPH speed zone.  In the vehicle were 2 small children, ages 10 and 8, as well as her older daughter.  Macaskill stated that she had broken her left foot and wanted to get to the hospital.  Tr. Keim asked Macaskill 3 times if she need an ambulance and she refused.  When Tr. Keim went to issue summonses to Macaskill she at first refused to sign them.  Tr. Keim then told her that if she refused, she was going to be arrested and taken to the York County Jail.  Macaskill was charged with criminal speed and endangering the welfare of a child.

    On 08/12/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Jeremiah Bradbury (34) of Westbrook for speeding.  Bradbury was traveling 101 MPH in a posted 70 MPH speed zone.  Bradbury did not realize he was going that fast.  Bradbury was charged with criminal speed.

    On 08/12/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Darry Ayers (31) of Augusta for speeding.  Ayers was traveling 84 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone.  Ayers stated that he just wanted to get by a car.  Tr. Keim explained to him that he passed numerous cars.  Ayers was charged with criminal speed and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

    On 08/12/2020, Tr. Keim received a report of a van that was driving erratically southbound from mile 63 in Gray.  The next report was that it hit a guardrail at mile 58.  Then a third report that the van had struck a vehicle at mile 53 and went off the road.  The passenger of the vehicle that was hit got out of his car and assaulted the driver of the van.  Tr. Keim was assisted by Falmouth PD at the scene.  Tr. Keim determined that after his investigation that the driver of the van: Tyler Giambattisa (24) of Rumford for operating under the influence.  While sitting in Tr. Keim’s cruiser, Giambattisa spit blood on the dashboard.  Tr. Keim also obtained information that Giambattisa had a prior OUI conviction and was out on bail for 2 pending OUIs.  Tr. Keim transported Giambattisa to the Cumberland County Jail; he was charged with operating under the influence, violation of bail, and criminal mischief.

    On 08/13/2020, Sgt. Pappas summonsed Bentley Watson for OAS.

    On 08/13/2020, Tr. Keim received a call from Old Orchard Beach PD of an assault that occurred on the Maine Turnpike in the Biddeford area.  After Tr. Keim completed his interviews of the male complainant, Tr. Keim had Sgt. Bureau go to a residence in Raymond to arrest Elizabeth Nappi (31) of Raymond for Domestic Violence Assault.  Nappi was arrested and transported to South Portland where Tr. Keim then transported Nappi to the York County Jail.  Tr. Keim also received information that Nappi was out on bail for a pending domestic violence assault on the same male.  Tr. Keim then charged Nappi with domestic violence assault and violation of bail.

    On 08/14/2020, Sagadahoc S.O. put out a BOLO on Charles N. Anderson (42) for criminal threatening with a knife.  The BOLO indicated he was likely headed out of state in a blue Honda Pilot.  After observing the vehicle traveling south near mile 10, Tr. Loder stopped it just south of the York tolls.  Tr. Dow provided backup.  Tr. Loder arrested Anderson and transported him to the York County Jail.  Anderson was charged with DV Criminal Threatening, Operating After Suspension, & Violating Conditions of Release.  Sgt. Porter & Det. Royle also responded to the scene to assist.

    On 08/14/2020, Tr. Wilkinson received a report of a van that was driving erratically northbound from mile 19 in Wells. There were several more complaints on the vehicle as it continued northbound, including a complaint from Wells PD that the van had struck a mailbox before getting on the Turnpike. Sgt. Porter located the vehicle in the Scarborough area and stopped it just before exit 44. Tr. Wilkinson arrived on scene and performed field sobriety tests on the operator, Robert Lucas (38) of Portland. After Tr. Wilkinson’s investigation, Lucas was charged with OUI – Drugs and Driving to Endanger. He was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident by Wells PD. Tr. Keim also assisted.

    On 08/14/2020, at 1114 hrs, Cpl. Cloutier responded to the Exit 47 overpass for a report of a man with a long gun pointing it at traffic on I-95.  Prior to Cpl. Cloutier’s arrival, Lt. Baker was out talking to a homeless man who had an air soft pistol in his backpack.  He denied pointing the pistol at traffic.  Westbrook PD had checked on him just prior to Lt. Baker and Cpl. Cloutier’s arrival.

    On 08/14/2020, Tr. Alexander had a chase with a grey BMW at MM 40 SB for Criminal Speed and Driving to Endanger. The operator, Trinity Phillips (18) of Wells was also charged with Failure to Stop. There were three passengers in the vehicle: a female from Saco and two males from Massachusetts. Tr. Fancy did a sniff on the BMW and indicated, so the vehicle was searched, but nothing was found. Tr. Keim and Sgt. Porter assisted with the stop.

    On 08/15/2020, Cpl. Physic summonsed Erik Brewer for Criminal Speed for going 108 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. 

    On 08/16/2020, Cpl. Physic arrested Lloyd Bethea (25), Terri Boulier (45), and Corey Palmer (39) for Aggravated Trafficking Schedule Drugs. Cpl. Physic pulled over a vehicle for erratic operation.  Sgt. Pappas and Tr. Libritz, along with Cpl. Schmidt and his K-9, responded to the scene.  The K-9 conducted a sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics, and a search was conducted. During the search, 144 grams of cocaine and 19 grams of heroin were found in the vehicle. Tr. Darcy also assisted.

  • Lebanon Fatal Crash

    Maine State Police responded to a the report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on the North Rochester Road in Lebanon at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 19, 2020. During the response, Troopers learned that rescue was performing CPR on the patient. The male driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead shortly after Troopers arrived on scene. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police believe he failed to negotiate a curve, and the vehicle went off the road, striking a stone wall and causing the vehicle to overturn.

  • Lincoln Death

    Adam Groves, 44, of Lincoln

    UPDATE: The Maine State Police arrested Adam Groves, 44, of Lincoln and charged him with Murder for the death of Pauline Taylor at 940 Transalpine Road in Lincoln.  Groves was taken into custody without incident and has been transported to the Penobscot County jail.
     
    Maine State Police personnel are still at the residence and will remain there throughout the day as they continue their investigation. 


    Maine State Police are investigating the death of a Lincoln woman. At approximately 8 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2020,  the Penobscot County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a residence located at 940 Transalpine Road in Lincoln.  

    The Lincoln Police Department and the Lincoln Ambulance Service responded to the call.  The initial responding officers determined that there had been a shooting at the residence.  The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was notified and responded to the scene.  As result of the shooting, one person is deceased and a second has been transported to a local hospital.  

    The deceased has been identified as 63 year old Pauline Taylor who lived at the Transalpine Road residence.  Her remains are being transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed later today, Aug. 20, 2020. 

    The Lincoln Police Department, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department and the Maine Warden Service have assisted with the investigation.   

    There is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.  If anyone has information about the shooting they can contact the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit by calling 207-973-3700 x9. 
     

  • Silver Alert: Joyce Benner UPDATE - LOCATED SAFE

    UPDATE: Joyce Benner has been located safely in Waterville by Waterville Police. Thank you all for your assistance.

    Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has instigated a Silver Alert for Joyce Benner, 97, of Jefferson, who was last seen on 6 Tackle Trail in Jefferson Maine. She is described as 5’00”, 115 lbs,  with gray hair and blue eyes. She may be driving a distinctive light green 2012 Mazda MZ2 vehicle with license plate 6576MV. Mrs. Benner reportedly has memory issues and relatives say it is unusual for her to out at this time of night and are concerned she may be lost.  Anyone who sees Mrs. Benner should call Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 207-882-7332 or 911.

  • Lewiston Shooting

    Jaquile Coleman, 26, of Lewiston.

    UPDATE: Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit has obtained an arrest warrant for Jaquile Coleman, 26, of Lewiston, charging him with the murder of Natasha Morgan, 19, of Lewiston who was killed on Scribner Blvd in Lewiston.  If anyone has information on Coleman’s location or sees him please call 911 immediately.  Coleman should be considered armed and the public should not approach him. The Chevy Cruz has been located.

    Maine State Police and Lewiston Police are investigating a shooting that took place earlier this afternoon on Scribner Boulevard in Lewiston.  As part of this investigation Police would like to speak with Jaquile Coleman.  Coleman is 26 years old and described as 5’6” 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen driving a 2013 silver Chevy Cruz with a temporary registration plate on the rear and a Harpswell Motors plate on the front.  If you have any information about Coleman’s location please call State Police Augusta dispatch or Lewiston police.     Trooper Dana Austin responded to Sullivan for a hit and run crash. As a result of the investigation, Julie Nevells (46) of Sullivan was arrested for Operating under the influence and Leaving the scene of a Property Damage accident. Sergeant Jason Sattler assisted.

     08-18-20

    Corporal Micah Perkins responded to a criminal mischief complaint in Alexander where a window was damaged at a school.  Investigation continues.

    08-22-20

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation on Route 9 in Osborne.  As the result of the investigation, Anthony Bee (48) of Mississippi was arrested for Operating Under the Influence. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

    Trooper Keith York responded to Oqiton Township for a report that a man had tampered with a generator and driving a truck into a lake.  As a result of the investigation, Christopher Grant (20) of Calais, was summonsed for Violation of Conditional Release.  The Maine Warden Service assisted.

    Corporal Micah Perkins responded to a theft complaint in Princeton where a vehicle had been damaged, and items taken from inside of it.  Investigation continues.

    Trooper Owen Reed and Sergeant Jeff Ingemi responded to Stonington for a ‘911’ open line.  As a result of the investigation, Bradford Rice (48) of Stonington was arrested for Violation of Conditional Release.

     

  • Troop F Weekly Report 08-16 to 08-23-20

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Clark was traveling south on the West Ridge Rd. in Mars Hill when he met a pick up traveling north operating erratically.  The vehicle had a snow plow on it that was dragging on the hot top and no registration plates.  Sgt. Clark attempted to stop the vehicle to address the violations.  The operator, later determined to be a male juvenile, refused to stop and increased his speed to approximately 80 mph.  The vehicle continued to operate erratically and drove off the right side of the roadway, becoming airborne into a field and came to rest in the wood line.  Sgt. Clark placed two juvenile males into custody.  No one was injured in the crash.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier investigated a crash in Saint Agatha where an intoxicated male drove his pickup into the lake.  Tr. Desrosier investigated and located the driver, who had fled the scene but then returned a short time later.  The man denied driving the vehicle, but several witnesses identified him as the driver.  After Field Sobriety Testing, the man was arrested for OUI and transported to Fort Kent Police Department.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Saint Agatha.  He observed a vehicle speeding and with several other traffic infractions.  Tr. Desrosier conducted a traffic stop and suspected the driver was intoxicated.  After conducting Field Sobriety Testing, the man was arrested for OUI and taken to Fort Kent Police Department for an Intoxilyzer test and where he posted bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Curtin met with a local business owner after the man reported a theft of diesel fuel from his store.  The owner of the business decided that he did not want to pursue theft charges against the diver, instead, he just wanted him to pay for the fuel he took.  The operator of the vehicle that took the fuel was not immediately recognized by the owner, but they were going to attempt to contact him on their own once his identify was learned.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Michaud charged a local man with Operating After Habitual Offender Status after he pulled him over on Route 1A in Fort Fairfield.  The traffic stop was for a motor vehicle defect, and it appeared that the man’s license had been revoked for years.  His passenger also had a suspended license, so a family member was called to come and get the men and the vehicle.  The man is now facing a November court date in Presque Isle.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Mahon arrested a local man for an outstanding warrant that stemmed from drug charges after Tr. Mahon had  pulled him over for a motor vehicle defect.  He was arrested without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider, Tr. Sylvia and K9 Ziva along with Sgt. Haines responded to Caribou after they had a male flee on foot from a stolen car.  The male recently stole the car as well as other items and was seen with a rifle in video surveillance a week prior.  Today the male did not have the rifle when he fled.  The track led to a residence which was searched with negative contact.  The male likely left in a vehicle from that residence.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was called to a New Limerick residence after the homeowner reported another male there would not let him leave.  ASO assisted Tr. Mahon and they learned the suspect had an active warrant and he was arrested without incident. 

  • Troop D Weekly Report

    Troop D weekly activities for time August 17th to August 23th, 2020

    On 8/17/2020, Tr. Bureau stopped Jacob Levangie-Thompson (25) for falsely attached plates on the Rocky Road in Northport. Upon further investigation, Tr. Bureau learned that Levangie-Thompson also was operating with a suspended license. He was summonsed for both offenses and the vehicle was towed.

    On 8/17/2020 at 1620 hrs, Tr. Lauren Roddy stopped a vehicle on Lewiston Rd in West Gardiner, driven by Angela Philbrook (35) of China. Philbrook was charged with Operating after Habitual Offender revocation, Class D and violating conditions of release, Class E. 

    On 8/17/2020 at 1745 hrs, Tr. Lauren Roddy stopped a vehicle on Spears Corner Rd in West Gardiner, driven by Allie Beaulieu (21) of West Gardiner. Beaulieu was charged with Operating After Suspension, Class E. 

    On 8/18/2020 Tr. Dunn, Tr. Belanger and Cpl. Quintero arrested Darren Smith (40) of Randolph on an Aggravated Trafficking warrant. He was also charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drug.

    On 8/19/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped Shirley Jewett (64) of Dixmont on Rt. 69 in Newburgh for a seatbelt violation. Jewett was suspended and charged with OAS.

    On 8/19/2020 Tr. Belanger and Cpl. Quintero stopped Norma Carter (29) and Davis Crowell (29) of Waldoboro on Rt. 17 in Chelsea for a loud exhaust. Davis was found in possession of cocaine and charged with Unlawful possession of schedule W drugs.


    On 8/19/2020 Tr. Belanger and Cpl. Quintero attempted to stop Christopher Hooper (42) of Warren, Destiny Crabtree (35) of Augusta, and Ernest Newson (35) of New York on Spring Rd in Augusta. Hooper attempted to flee but pulled over shortly after. The vehicle was searched which resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine and heroin. Hooper was arrested on an FTA warrant, VCR, Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs, and use and sale of drug paraphernalia. Crabtree was arrested for Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs, Unlawful possession of schedule W drugs, Trafficking in prison contraband, and Use and Sale of drug paraphernalia. Newson was charged with Aggravated Trafficking in schedule W drugs. 

    On 8/20/2020 Tr. Dunn stopped Justin Suzzan (20) of New York for traveling 107 MPH in a posted 70 MPH zone on I-295 in Bowdoinham. He was issued a summons for criminal speed.

    On 8/20/2020 Tr. Belanger and Cpl. Quintero stopped James Dellinger (32) of Windsor, Jessica Simmons (30) of Gardiner, and Jason Brown (32) of Gardiner on Rt. 9 in Chelsea for a seatbelt violation. Simmons was charged with use and sale of drug paraphernalia and Brown was held per probation. 

    On 8/20/2020 at 1430 hours, Tr. Lauren Roddy received multiple traffic complaints on a red Chevy SUV operating erratically and driving vehicles off the road on I-295 NB in Richmond. Tr. Roddy located the vehicle around MM47 NB and observed it actively tailgating and driving aggressively. The operator, Stanley Wilson (62) of Lantana, Florida was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence and Driving to Endanger. Wilson was transported to Kennebec county Jail in Augusta and his bail was set at $1500 cash.

    On 8/21/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped Scott Crandall (54) of Albion on Rt. 202 in Albion. Crandall was charged with VCR for being in possession of alcohol. 

    On 8/21/2020 Cpl. Quintero, Tr. Belanger and Tr. Dunn traveled to 660 Blinn Hill road in Pittston for the purpose of a probation check of Jessica Tillson (34) and Bruce Tillson (43).  During the search crack pipes and hypodermic needles were located along with a firearm and numerous rounds of ammunition. Jessica was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and for violating her probation.  Bruce Tillson was separately arrested for violation of his probation related to his Unlawful use of Schedule Drugs.

    On 8/22/2020 Tr. Dunn and Tr. Stevens responded to 656 Nash Rd. in Pittston for a 911 hang-up. Patricia Goodwin (34) of West Gardiner was located and arrested for VCR. Cpl. Robinson assisted with the investigation. 

    On 8/22/2020 Tr. Martin stopped a vehicle for speed on Rt. 126 in Wales. The operator Joseph Longley (29) performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Longley was also operating with an expired permit. Longley was transported for an intoxilyzer test that confirmed he his BAC was above the legal limit.  Longley was summonsed and released for operating without a license and operating under the influence. 

  • Troop G Weekly Report 08/17/2020 - 08/23/2020

    On 08/19/2020, Sgt. Porter pulled over a Cadillac Escalade that took the crossover at MM 20.3 to go from NB to SB. The operator, Abdelghani Dahhani (42) of Danvers, MA, was a chauffeur enroute to pick up a client. He was summonsed for Crossing Highway Dividing Space.

    On 08/20/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Yusef AL-Sabri (55) of South Portland on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit. 

    On 08/20/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Evan Crochiere (38) of Taunton, MA on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit. 

    On 08/21/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Fallon Richards (37) of Jay on the ME Turnpike northbound in Lewiston.  She was charged with Operating with a Suspended Registration (Class E) and Violation of Conditions of Release (Class E).

    On 08/21/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Adam Grandmaison (38) of Auburn on the ME Turnpike southbound in New Gloucester.  He was charged with Operating after Suspension and Possession of a Suspended License.

    On 08/21/2020, Cpl. Duda was dispatched to a pedestrian walking in the area of mile 53 northbound. Cpl. Duda located a male walking on the side of the road. It was determined that the male had run out of gas. He was also suffering from mental health illnesses and was confused; he did not know where he was and did not have access to a phone. The male was voluntarily transported to the hospital by rescue for an evaluation.

    On 08/22/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Musa Abuhasan (48) of Woburn, MA on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit.

    On 08/22/2020, Cpl. Physic summonsed Gavin Morse for Criminal Speed.

    On 08/23/2020, Tr. Darcy charged Edwin Martinez (39) of Lyman with Operating after Suspension as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in Kennebunk.

    Cpl. Physic indicted Ashlee Cleveland and Robert Merrill for Aggravated Trafficking Schedule drugs.

  • Waterville Incident

    Maine State Police and Waterville Police are currently responding to a person discharging a firearm in Waterville. Police are asking Media who wish to report on the incident to stage at the Waterville Police Station for safety reasons.  We do not have a scheduled conference but will provide more information as it becomes available.
