  • Troop G Weekly Report

    1-15- Tpr. Darcy stopped a vehicle northbound on the turnpike in York. The registration was suspended for tolls. The registered owner was able to call into the turnpike authority and sort out the issue regarding his overdue fines to the turnpike.

    Sgt. Pappas summonsed a Livermore Falls resident for trafficking oxycodone after finding him in possession of 36 pills.

    Sgt. Pappas summonsed two Bingham residents for trafficking cocaine after finding them in possession of 2 ounces of coke and 1 gram of fentanyl.  SW was conducted at their residence in Bingham.  Over ten guns were seized in addition to 10 grams of fentanyl.

    Cpl. Ricci Cote, while working a minimum shift in Troop B, stopped Brandy Hilliard (41) of Turner, on N. River Road in Greene.  She was arrested and charged with OUI.  Her BrAC was over the legal limit.

    Cpl. Ricci Cote summonsed Daniel Moulton (29) of Falmouth for Criminal Speed (102 mph in a posted 70 mph zone) on I-95 SB in Scarborough.

    Cpl. Ricci Cote stopped Elizabeth Bell (29) of Biddeford on I-95 in Saco for having a Suspended Registration.  She was not charged, but her vehicle was towed.  She will be following up with the MTA.  

    Cpl. Ricci Cote stopped Scott Briggs (34) of Windham on I-95 SB in Auburn.  He was summonsed for Operating W/ an Expired Driver’s License > 90 Days.

    Cpl. Ricci Cote stopped Robert Gray (54) of Sanford on I-95 SB in Gray.  He was arrested for Operating after Habitual Offender Revocation.  He had an active warrant and was out on bail.  He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail. 

    On 1/18/20 Trooper Williams arrested Brent Homer (42) of Dorchester, MA for Criminal Arrest Warrant; Failure to Appear following an erratic driving complaint in York.
     

  • Troop F Weekly Report 01-20 to 01-26-20

    Trooper:                   Cpl. Quint

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Quint was conducting traffic enforcement in Hodgdon and observed a vehicle that did not have an inspection certificate.  A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver stated she just bought the car and was taking it to be repaired.  Further investigation determined the vehicle had falsely attached registration plates and was not insured.  Cpl. Quint issued the driver a warning for not having the inspection, a traffic summons for not having insurance, and a criminal summons for the illegally attached plates.  The vehicle was towed from the roadway and the driver arranged for someone to come get her.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier responded to a single vehicle crash in Frenchville.  The driver was using his phone connected to Bluetooth to listen to music, attempted to change the song, and went off the roadway.  Further investigation by Tr. Desrosier determined the man was impaired and field sobriety testing was conducted.  The man failed the tests and was taken to Fort Kent PD for an Intoxilyzer test.  The man was able to post bail and was released.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier investigated a motor vehicle theft in Mars Hill.  The victim’s sister had taken his van without permission and was likely driving it to New Hampshire.  The vehicle was located the next day by a local PD in New Hampshire and impounded.  The officers arrested a man inside the vehicle on an unrelated warrant but had to release the driver.  Tr. Desrosier is securing a warrant for her arrest.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton learned that a female in Oakfield had an active warrant stemming from an OUI crash that Tr. Cotton handled in the Fall of 2019. Tr. Cotton located the female at her residence and placed her under arrest. The female was transported to the Aroostook County Jail without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was conducting traffic enforcement in Sherman when he observed a black GMC pickup exceeding the speed limit. Tr. Cotton pulled the truck over and learned that the trucks plates were falsely attached, and the operator was on bail. Ultimately, Tr. Cotton issued the operator a summons for the bail violation and for attaching false plates. Tr Cotton escorted the male down the road to his residence, where he met his mother and got a ride to the town office to register his vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:         Tr. Curtin pulled a vehicle over in St. Francis.  While gaining identification from a passenger in the vehicle, a male subject provided 2 different names to Tr Curtin.  Unfortunately for him, one of the false names he provided to Tr Curtin was another man who also had a warrant out for his arrest.  Tr Curtin took the ma into custody and continued his investigation.  Tr Curtin ultimately learned the real identity of the man.  He had 3 warrants out for his arrest and had been being sought for approximately the last year.  The man was charged with providing a false name, violations of conditions of release, and drinking in public.  He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:        Cpl. Michaud responded to an apartment complex in Mapleton.  2 residents of the complex had been involved in a dispute of the behavior of dogs that were owned by one of the men.  Cpl. Michaud was able to get the men to resolve their differences and settle the dispute.

    Trooper Dana Austin responded to Cranberry Island for a report of multiple vehicles that had been damaged during the night. It was also reported a building on the island had been damaged. As a result of the investigation, Justin Bunker (26) of Cranberry Island was arrested for Violation of Conditional Release, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and Failure to File an Accident Report by Quickest Means. Trooper Austin was assisted by the Maine Marine Patrol.

    Trooper Caleb McGary summonsed Kimberly Ratsakongsy Perzonowski (29) of Hampden, for Operating after Suspension after a traffic stop in Dedham.

    Trooper Owen Reed summonsed Heidi Bray (45) of Sedgwick, for Operating with an Expired License after a traffic stop in Blue Hill.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor summonsed Kaleb Kenney (20) of Columbia Falls for Operating After Suspension as result of an interaction at the Harrington Irving.

    Trooper Caleb McGary arrested Wyatt Salisbury (30) of Lamoine, for Violation of Conditional Release after a bail check was conducted at his residence and he was found to be in possession of alcohol.  Trooper Owen Reed assisted.

     

  • Troop D Weekly Report

    Troop D weekly activities for time January 20th to January 26th, 2020

    On 1/15/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped Damien Ward (31) of Stockton Springs on Rt. 139 in Brooks for a loud exhaust. Ward had a suspended driver’s license and bail conditions. Ward was charged with OAS and VCR.

    On 1/16/2020 Tr. Belanger arrested Jeremiah Chauvin (42) of Unity on a warrant. Chauvin was also charged with VCR after testing positive for cocaine.

    On 1/19/2020 Tr. Harrington stopped a vehicle traveling NB on I95 in Farmingdale after infractions were observed on I295. The vehicle was occupied by three men, including Alonso Melgar (23) of El Salvador. It was determined Melgar was in the United States illegally and had been since 2016. The presence of narcotics was detected by Dep. Boudreau and K9 Vixen from KSO, and a search was conducted with no found contraband. Deportation Officer Cola was contacted and coordinated with Immigration to arrest Melgar for the immigration violation. Cpl. Wesbrock also assisted with the stop. 

    On 1/20/2020 Tr. Harrington stopped a vehicle traveling NB on I95 in West Gardiner after observing vehicle defects on I295. The driver of the vehicle, Teddy Green (44) of Fairfield, Maine was driving his friend, back to the area after visiting a friend in Portland. Tr. Harrington asked Green to exit the vehicle so he could administer SFST’s.  As Green exited the car, Tr. Harrington saw indications of drug use and as a result of the investigation located approximately 6 grams of Cocaine concealed inside the console along with loose US currency. Tr. Grenier assisted with the search and located an additional 3 grams of Cocaine and a crack pipe hidden in a container under the passenger seat. Tr. Harrington arrested Green and transported him to Kennebec County Jail where he was charged with: Unlawful Possession of Cocaine (Class B). 

    On 1/20/2020 Cpl. Pelletier stopped Coleman Dodd (23) on Rt.90 in Warren for a speeding infraction. His truck was lifted, and had oversized tires installed with a recently issued inspection sticker. Dodd admitted to knowingly altering his MV after an inspection. He was summonsed for the offense.  

    On 1/20/2020 Tr. Verhille stopped Damian Rongo (20) of Fairlawn, New Jersey for criminal speed on Interstate 295. Further investigation revealed Rongo was in possession of imitation schedule drug. He was charged for both offenses. 

    On 1/21/2020 Cpl. Robinson responded to the Brooks Road in Thorndike for a report of a vehicle off the road.  The operator, Paul Lawrence (20) of Jackson was ultimately arrested and charged with Operating Beyond License Restrictions, Operating Under the Influence, and Operating Without a License. 

    On 1/21/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped Troy Thomas (36) of Vassalboro on Rt. 202 in Unity. Thomas was arrested for OAR, possession of marijuana 8-16 oz, possession of Xanax, possession of Buprenorphin, and use of drug paraphernalia.

    On 1/22/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped a vehicle on Detroit Rd in Troy for a loud exhaust. Shane Malliard (27) had two warrants for FTA and was arrested.

    On 1/22/2020 Tr. Martin responded to a complaint regarding a crash on the Bagley Hill Road in Troy. The operator, later identified as Teran Booth (23), failed to report the accident and left the scene after destroying someone’s property in the crash. Tr. Martin located Booth who was summonsed for Leaving the Scene of a PD Crash and Failure to Give Notice of Accident by Quickest Means.  


    On 1/24/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped Jose Olvencia (60) of Somerville for a loud exhaust on Rt. 17 in Windsor. Olvencia was suspended and charged with OAS.


    On 1/24/2020 Tr. Stewart responded to a report of a crash with injury in Burnham. The operator, Shylah Logidice (34) was arrested for OUI and summonsed accordingly. 

    On 1/24/2020 Cpl. Pelletier stopped Bobbi-Lynn Bishop (56) on Rt.17 in Windsor for a vehicle defect. Her license was expired and had been for 6 months. She was summonsed for the offense. 

    On 1/25/2020 Tr. Harrington and Cpl. Neagle located and arrested Jared Jandreau, (35) in Bowdoin.  Jandreau was wanted on an active arrest warrant issued out of the Augusta Superior Court for twenty (20) Class A counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Under 12YOA, five (5) counts of Class B Unlawful Sexual Contact and one (1) count of Class B Criminal Solicitation. Jandreau was transported to Kennebec County Jail without incident.

    On 1/25/2020 Cpl. Pelletier charged Katelynn Dubois (24) with Theft. The summons stemmed from an investigation that started on 1/7/2020 when it was reported that while employed as a cashier for the Rt. 126 Family Quick Stop in Litchfield for a period of 6 months, Dubois stole $5,911.32. 

    On 1/25/2020 Tr. Adams got in a chase with Joanne M. Lydem (48) of Troy. Lydem had 4 active warrants for the arrest and had a suspended driver’s license as well 2 sets of bail conditions. Lydem was pursued and went off the road and down the snow sled trail. Lydem went through a creek and continued down the trail.  Lydem was able to break through a gate and make it back to the roadway. Lydem was later apprehended by Tr. Martin and Tr. Belanger. 
     

  • Woodland Crash

    WoodlandOn Jan. 27 around 10:14 a.m., Maine State Troopers responded to a crash in Woodland. 

    Ashley Brydon, 32, of Woodland, was traveling North On Route 161 in Woodland with her 1-year-old son.  Brydon’s vehicle drove into slush in the middle of the road and it caused her to lose control.  Brydon’s vehicle crashed into a snowbank off of the southbound lane.  The vehicle drove in the snow for approximately 10 feet when it hit a frozen section of the snowbank.  When it hit the frozen section of the snow bank, the vehicle rolled over on to the vehicle’s passenger side.  Brydon and her son were able to exit the vehicle with the help of First Responders.

    Caribou Fire and Ambulance were called to the scene and transported Brydon and her son to Cary Medical Center.  Brydon and her son were examined and released with minor injuries.

    Maine Game Warden Ryan Fitzpatrick assisted at the scene.  The vehicle was towed from the scene by Bealieu’s Garage.
     

  • Waterboro woman arrested in Maine

    Leah Boulard, 33, of Waterboro

    A Waterboro woman was arrested by the Maine State Police on an active warrant.

    On Jan. 27, 2020, a Trooper from Troop A and a Corporal from Troop B, conducted a warrant check at a residence in West Newfield. Leah Boulard, 33, of Waterboro, was wanted out of New Hampshire for a possession of fentanyl charge with intent to distribute. Boulard was located inside the residence and was placed under arrest. She was also charged with possession of schedule w drug (class D), possession of schedule W drug (class E), and violation of conditions of release (class E).

    Boulard was transported to York County Jail where she is awaiting extradition back to New Hampshire. No bail was allowed for the new charges.

  • ORLAND FATAL CRASH - DRIVER CHARGED

    An Orland woman was killed after the vehicle she was a passenger in went off the road last night. The driver is facing multiple charges.

    On Jan. 28, 2020, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Tr. Travis Chapman responded to the Cedar Swamp Rd. in Orland for a motor vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed that Robert Cunningham (48) of Orland was driving west in a 2007 Ford Ranger.  Valerie Seavey (50) of Orland was a passenger.  The driver lost control on a left hand corner, went off the left side of the roadway striking an embankment.  The vehicle came to rest on its wheels in the middle of the roadway.  At some point, Seavey was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Seavey wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.  

    Cunningham was placed under arrest and taken to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth.  On Jan. 29, he was charged with Manslaughter, Agg. OUI, Agg. Driving to Endanger and Speeding 30 MPH or more over the speed limit.  Sgt. Tim Varney and Cpl. Dan Ryan assisted.  Tr. Josh Lander is reconstructing the crash.  Speed and alcohol appear to be factors.  Bucksport and Orland Fire Departments also assisted.

  • GARDINER VICTIM DIES - MURDER CHARGE LODGED

    State Police say the man who was shot over the weekend in Gardiner died Tuesday.  22 year old Jordan Johnson was being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland where he died. Detectives continue to work with the Attorney General’s Office in the investigation and this morning Detectives charged Dylan Ketcham of Gardiner with murder in connection with Johnson’s death. Ketcham is expected to make his first court appearance on the murder charge this afternoon at 3:30 at the Augusta Judicial Center.  A second man who was stabbed in the incident early Saturday morning continues to be hospitalized for treatment of his wounds.

  • SCHOOL THREATS INVESTIGATED

    State Police say they are working with the FBI on a web based  threat received against a dozen Maine high schools today.  The threat was received by a Maine business which forwarded it to police.   In addition State Police have informed all Maine police departments of the threat and the Maine Department of Education has done the same with all Maine school superintendents. 

    Investigators are now working on the source of the threat and its credibility. In addition to information sent out to Maine police departments by the Maine Information Analysis Center, the State Police computer crimes unit is also involved and working with federal counterparts.  

    The specifics of the threat and the school districts cited are not being released at this time.  Additional information may come later from the FBI’s press office in Boston.   
     

  • Maine Violent Offender Task Force arrest man on interstate

    Henry Brackett, 58, of Old Town/New Britain, Conn.

    Authorities from the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force, along with the assistance of the Maine State Police, arrested a man who was wanted on extraditable warrants from Connecticut.

    On Jan. 30, 2020, MVOTF personnel were attempting to locate Henry Brackett, 58, of Old Town Maine and New Britain, Conn., who was wanted on a Connecticut State Warrant for a Parole violation with nationwide extradition.  Brackett was recently released after serving a 25 year sentence for kidnapping and sexual assault.  He violated his parole with days of being released from a halfway house in CT.

    along the Maine Turnpike to watch for Brackett. At approximately, 3:15 p.m., a member of the MVOTF saw a gray Chevy Malibu coming from the service plaza and noted that the driver matched the description and photos of Brackett. Other Task Force members were able to confirm his identity.

    MVOTF members and members of the Maine State Police coordinated to stop the vehicle. Brackett was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest without incident. A loaded, stolen handgun was located in the console of the vehicle as well as approximately half a pound of marijuana in various forms.  Brackett faces Federal charges of a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as potential drug charges.

    Brackett is being held at the York County jail without bail pending extradition back to Connecticut.
