    Trooper:                              Tr. Nadeau, Sgt. Pappas

Brief Synopsis: On 12/05/2019, Tr. Nadeau responded to the area of 38 Turner Street in Canton for an Oxford Deputy requesting immediate assistance. Dispatch reported that a Deputy was on scene with DHHS doing an emergency removal of children from the home. Once on scene, Deputy Zane Loper stated that he had been assaulted by Shane Edwards (34). Deputy Loper stated that Shane came to the door and when he saw the police, he slammed the door. Deputy Loper stated his hand was in the door jam and he now had a broken finger. Deputy Loper searched the house for Shane and found he had fled the residence. Tr. Nadeau checked the perimeter of the residence and found footprints leading away from the bedroom window. SGT Pappas signed out in the area and stated he possibly saw the suspect standing inside the Big Apple. SGT Pappas was able to obtain a DMV photo and found it was not Shane Edwards standing in the store window. SGT Pappas and Tr. Nadeau entered the Big Apple to search the rest of the store for Shane. Several people in the store pointed to the attached Dunkin Donuts and stated that Shane was sitting at one of the tables around the corner. As Tr. Nadeau rounded the corner, he saw a man, matching Shane's description and DMV photo, sitting at one of the tables. Tr. Nadeau advised Shane to stand up and turn around. Shane stated he was not turning around until we told him what it was about. Tr. Nadeau again told Shane to turn around and he began to pull away from Tr. Nadeau. Tr. Nadeau pulled a phone from Shane’s hand, so he could not use it as a weapon and as he did so, Shane punched the left side of Tr. Nadeau’s face with a closed fist. SGT Pappas and Tr. Nadeau pulled Shane to the ground to gain control of his hands. Shane was still pulling away and would not put his hands behind his back. Tr. Nadeau drew his Taser and shot Shane in the lower back area. Shane complied after the single Taser deployment and SGT Pappas was able to secure Shane in handcuffs. SGT Pappas did a thorough search of Shane and EMS was called to evaluate Shane for injuries. Shane was uncooperative with EMS and refused any medical treatment. Shane was taken into custody by Oxford County SO and transported to the Jail. Deputy Loper later advised that he would be charging Shane with Class C Assault on a Police Officer for breaking his finger, Class D assault for punching me in the face, Obstructing Government Administration and Refusing to Submit to Arrest.
