  • Troop F Weekly Report 11-11 to 11-17-19

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was driving through Frenchville when he observed a man get out of a pickup at a local gas station.  Tr. Desrosier knew the man had a revoked driver’s license.  Tr. Desrosier monitored the area and a few moments later observed the man driving the truck.  Tr. Desrosier conducted a traffic stop and the man stated he had not killed anyone and was only driving to help a friend.  Tr. Desrosier issued the man a criminal summons for operating after revocation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was aware of a man with an active warrant for eluding an officer and OAS living in Frenchville.  Tr. Desrosier went to a residence where it was suspected the suspect may be and spoke with the homeowner.  Tr. Desrosier located and arrested the man with the warrant and transported him to Madawaska PD where the man was able to post bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins was driving through Houlton when he observed a vehicle with an expired inspection certificate.  He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and discovered the male driver had a suspended Maine driver’s license.  Tr. Kilcollins issued the man a criminal summons for OAS and helped him arrange for a licensed driver to get him and the vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:       A woman was driving south on Interstate 95, Houlton.  She moved into the left lane to pass a slower moving vehicle.  As the first vehicle was passing, a large chunk of ice came off the top of the second vehicle and went through the windshield.  The driver was able to flag down the other and both pulled to the right side of the Interstate.  The driver of the vehicle where the ice came off was issued a traffic summons for unsecure load on her vehicle.  The damaged vehicle was towed from the Interstate by York’s of Houlton Towing.  No one was injured during this incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque discovered a male to be in violation on his conditions of release while executing a search warrant in Mapleton.  He was arrested for Violating his conditions of release and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Houlton Regional Communications Center received a report that a Tractor Trailer Unit hauling a full load of un-packaged potatoes had jackknifed around Mile Marker 278 South bound on Interstate 95. Tr. Cotton responded to the scene and investigated the crash. Tr Cotton determined that the operator was traveling South in the driving lane when he lost control of his truck and jackknifed into the median. Westerdahls Towing arrived on scene and moved the trailer out of the roadway. The truck, trailer and load of potatoes were removed the following day. Speed and poor road conditions were factors in the crash

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin was called to a burglary and theft in Eagle Lake.  The homeowner reported someone had entered his home earlier in the evening and money was missing.  Tr. Curtin later discovered the property is also a medical marijuana distribution facility.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin was called to the West Rd in Stockholm for a vehicle off the road with reportable damage.  As a result of the investigation a male was arrested on an outstanding warrant and the juvenile driver was summonsed for operating beyond the restrictions of his permit.   

  • Norway Body ID'd

    Maine State Police and the Medical Examiner’s Office have identified the woman found buried in the back yard in Norway, Maine, as Mae Shelton, 82, of Otisfield, Maine. 

    Shelton’s remains were recovered from a property in the Town of Norway on Sept 17. 

    State Police were assisted in the search and recovery by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Norway Police, the Maine Department of Transportation, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
     

  • Brunswick Shooting Death

    State and Brunswick police are investigating a shooting that left one dead in Brunswick.

    On Nov. 18, 2019, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Brunswick Police received a 911 call about a shooting on Federal Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that a man who was armed with a handgun broke into an apartment occupied by two people. During a struggle for the weapon, the man who broke into the apartment and another occupant were shot. The subject fled from the apartment and died outside. The other occupant was treated at an area hospital and released. 

    No charges are expected and there is no threat to the public. Names are being withheld until next of kin can be notified.

    Brunswick Police Department assisted at the scene.

  • Tr. B Weekly Report 11/4/19-11/10/19

    Brief Synopsis: Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency 911 call from a resident on the Butter Hill Road in Livermore reporting a disturbance between a male and female. Deputies were advised that the female had taken off on foot heading towards the area of Brettun’s Variety, (Route 4) in Livermore. Deputy Mike Mejia arrived at Brettun’s Variety minutes later and was flagged down by a male who reported his vehicle had just been stole, while he was inside paying for gas.  The male informed the Deputy that his three young children, ages 6, 4, and 2 were inside the vehicle, which was described as a black 2010 Jeep Wrangler. Deputies immediately notified all surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the look-out (BOLO) for the vehicle and began searching for the vehicle.  At 9:00 am, Livermore Falls Police Officer Bachelder observed the Jeep heading north on Route 4 in Livermore Falls.  Officer Bachelder attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop, maintaining the posted speed limit, and continued north on Rt. 4 in the town of Jay.  Jay Police Officer Morin then joined in the pursuit.  Maine State Trooper’s Marcus Reny and Randy Hall were able to use a tire deflating device on the vehicle as it continued on Rt. 4 in North Jay.  The vehicle turned onto Greenridge Way, which is a dead end roadway and crashed into a garage and residence at the end of Greenridge Way. The operator, who has been identified as Shannon Lee Dupree (42) and was taken into custody.  The three children were not injured and were quickly reunited with their father.  It was confirmed that Dupree was involved in the initial disturbance call on Butter Hill Road.  The operator was arrested and has been charged by both the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and the Livermore Falls Police Department.

    Brief Synopsis:  Trooper Pyburn responded to Richardson Road in Hiram, for a report a domestic disturbance between Mathew Hartford and Stephani Ferguson. Upon arriving on scene and interviewing both parties, Trooper Pyburn noted injuries on Ferguson and Hartford. Trooper Pyburn learned Hartford was on bail for a previous DV incident between the two, and Ferguson had an active warrant.  A predominant aggressor determination made, and Trooper Pyburn arrested Hartford for DV assault, and VCR. Deputy Huston (Oxford Sheriff’s Office) arrested and transported Ferguson on the warrant.

    Brief Synopsis:  At approximately 0130 hours, Cpl. Hink was called out to a domestic at 58 Denmark Road in Brownfield where it was reported by Michelle Reed that her husband, Daniel Reed, had been punching her like a punching bag.  ARCC advised Cpl. Hink that Michelle is on bail conditions but both parties are not wanted.  Cpl. Hink arrived on scene and noticed Fryeburg Off. Lee arrived, and Michelle was being evaluated by Rescue.  Michelle told Cpl. Hink that Daniel was sleeping on the couch with their 2-year old son.  Michelle admitted that both she and Daniel had been drinking and Daniel had approximately consumed a 12-pack of beer.  Cpl. Hink contacted Daniel and was able to separate him from his son.  Cpl. Hink asked Daniel to go to another room and away from his sleeping son and he did.  Cpl. Hink advised Daniel he was under arrest for Domestic Violence Assault and Daniel resisted arrest.  After a short struggle, Cpl. Hink was able to get Daniel in handcuffs and escorted him to his cruiser.  Cpl. Hink transported Daniel to the Oxford County Jail and charged him with Domestic Violence Assault and Refusing to Submit to Arrest.  At approximately 0930 hours, Cpl. Hink contacted Michelle and conducted a 48-hour follow up. Cpl. Hink charged Michelle with Violation of her bail conditions due to her drinking.

    Brief Synopsis:  Tr. James stopped Autumn Mains (26) of Biddeford on I295 for 82 in a 65 MPH zone. Mains’ license was suspended at the time of the stop and she was also on bail conditions. Mains was charged with Operating After Suspension and Violating Conditions of release. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Brief Synopsis: On 11/6/2019, Tr. Willard and Tr. Rec. Lemieux stopped ME PC 689XC southbound on Route 136 in Durham for a speed infraction.  Upon further investigation, it was found the operator, Jonato Mbongo had a suspended driver’s license and was summonsed.

  • Troop B Weekly Report 11/11/19-11/17/19

    Incident Type:   Felony theft

    Trooper: Tr. Fillebrown & Tr. Recruit Lemieux

    Brief Synopsis: Shane Rines was arrested in West Paris for felony theft by receiving after Troop Detective Fillebrown and Tr. Recruit Lemiuex located a stolen trailer and tools from Gardiner at Rines residence.   The investigation started after Tr. Recruit Lemieux had observed tools in the back of Rines pickup during a traffic stop the evening before in Auburn.  The tools had names written on them and after calling the company Lemieux was advised of the theft. (Troop Detective Fillebrown and Lemieux had interviewed Rines a month prior in regard to other stolen trailers at his previous residence in Buckfield).  Through the investigation more information was revealed in reference to a stolen trailer in Greene and Androscoggin SO charged Rines with felony theft. Investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.

    Brief Synopsis: Trooper Pyburn summonsed Mathew Perkins of Norway, with Operating After Suspension. The stop occurred on Route 2 in Bethel, for a hands-free violation.

    Town:     Portland

    Trooper:  Tr. Flanagan & Recruit Lemieux

    Brief Synopsis:  Tr. Flanagan and Recruit Lemieux stopped a vehicle on I-295 in Portland for speed and seatbelt violations. They made contact with the female operator and three passengers.  Upon further investigation, they discovered that the female operator was providing them with a false name.  They eventually received the correct name and discovered that the female operator was suspended.  She stated she thought she had active warrants out of New Hampshire which was not true.  The subject was charged with OAS (Class E) and released from the scene with a licensed driver. 

  • Brunswick Deceased ID'd

    State Police say that the man who was killed in the shooting in Brunswick is Ali Fisher, 40, of Lisbon.

    On Nov. 18, 2019, around 10:22 p.m., Brunswick Police received a 911 call about shots being fired. Maine State Police arrived Fisher broke into a residence at 34 Federal Street, which is a temporary housing facility run by Tedford Housing. He had an altercation with the resident (female, 22, of Westbrook) who had a guest over. The male guest (male, 22, of Westbrook) and Fisher fought, and subsequently Fisher was shot by the male guest who was also armed. He left the building and collapsed outside. The resident of Federal Street was also shot in the arm, treated, and released from an area hospital.

    The other two people involved will not be identified as no charges are expected.

  • Troop D Weekly Report

    Troop D weekly activities for time November 11th to November 17th 2019

    On 11/10/19 Tr. Plourde stopped Naomi Luce (43) of Whitefield for erratic operation on the Middle Road in Dresden. Naomi was charged with Operating After Suspension. 

    On 11/11/19 Tr. Harrington was traveling on Route 201 in Augusta when he came across a car vs dump truck that had just occurred in the front of C&S Market. Tr. Harrington rendered first aid to the driver of the car, who was identified as: Gage Perry (20) of Farmington. Perry had severe head trauma and numerous broken bones and was in and out of consciousness. Perry was transported to Maine General Hospital. Augusta PD arrived on scene and took over as primary investigators of the crash. 

    On 11/11/19 Tr. Harrington stopped a vehicle on traveling Southbound on I295 in Bowdoinham for numerous vehicle defects. The driver, who was identified as: Terrel Walker (28) formerly of Taunton, Massachusetts was found to be on bail with search conditions stemming from a Troop G traffic stop on I95 in August of 2019. The passenger, who was identified as: Eimel Evans (26) of Augusta was found to also be on 2 sets of bail conditions and held an active warrant for his arrest. A search of the vehicle was conducted by Tr. Harrington and Ofc. Sherland of the Topsham Police Department and as a result, (15) pounds of vacuum sealed marijuana, 4 unknown capsules which are believed to be filled with Heroin, and $2,500 of U.S. Currency was all located inside the vehicle. Tr. Harrington also discovered Walker was wanted by the FDA for other Federal drug charges and the warrant had been issued earlier in the week. Walker was arrested on the warrant, along with the possession of schedule drug and VCR, and transported to Cumberland County Jail at the request of the FDA. Cpl. Pelletier arrested Evans and transported him to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.  

    On 11/16/19, Tr. Martin was patrolling on I95 in Plymouth when he stopped a truck for a vehicle defect. The operator, Cody White (24), had a suspended license and bail conditions prohibiting him from driving a vehicle. White was summonsed for Operating After Suspension and Violating Conditions of Release. 

    On 11/16/19 Tr. Dunn stopped Sarah Haberle (31) of Gardiner in Gardiner for a vehicle defect. Haberle’s license was suspended and she was charged with OAS.

    On 11/16/19 Tr. Plourde stopped and summonsed Matthew O’Dell (24) of Plymouth, CT for criminal speed on I-295 in Richmond. Troopers Peckham and Dunn assisted as well as Officer Lucas Shirland from the Topsham Police Department with K9 Jobe. 

    On 11/17/19 Troopers Moore, Gleeson and Harrington arrested Shawn Metayer of Litchfield on active warrants. Metayer was arrested on X2 counts of Class A Manslaughter and one count of Class B OUI.

  • Canaan Fatal Crash

    Canaan CrashA crash left one dead and two injured in Canaan. The road was closed for five hours as Troopers investigated the incident.

    On Nov. 23, at approximately 7:09 p.m., 2019, Maine State Police Trooper Garrett Booth, Trooper Eric Sucy, Corporal Rick Moody, and Sergeant Peter Michaud responded to the area 1292 Hill Road in Canaan for a report of a single vehicle crash involving three occupants. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of a 2004 Mustang convertible failed to negotiate a left turn, went off the roadway and struck a tree head-on where it came to rest.  The driver, David Johnson, 44, of Clinton and passenger Robert Archer, 58, of Clinton, were both taken to a local hospital then then transferred Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for serious injuries.  The third passenger, Scott Miller, 55, also of Clinton, was killed in the crash.

    Preliminary investigation suggests alcohol to be contributing factor in the crash, however the investigation is ongoing.  

    Troop C personnel were assisted by Specialist Pion of the Maine State Police Traffic Unit for mapping and reconstruction purposes.  Canaan Fire Dept and Somerset Sheriff’s deputies also assisted in the emergency response.  The Hill Road was shut down for approximately 5 hours while Troopers completed the scene investigation.

    11-20-19

    In the early morning hours, Trooper Gavin Endre responded to the report of Ryan Kidder (18) of Hancock being heavily intoxicated and causing a disturbance in Hancock. Trooper Endre located Kidder running from the scene. Kidder was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release and transported to the Hancock County Jail. Hancock Sheriff’s Office Deputies assisted.

    11-22-19

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi arrested Michael Locke (26) of Lubec, for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating After Suspension and Illegal Attachment of Plates after a traffic stop in Marshfield.  Locke was also summonsed for theft stemming from an investigation by Trooper Kim Sawyer. 

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a crash in Castine where the operator had fled the scene.  As a result of the investigation, Nicholas Thorne (20) of Steep Falls, was summonsed for Failure to Report an Accident by quickest means and Criminal Conspiracy.  Carter Jordan (21) of Turner, was also summonsed for Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution.

    Trooper Andy Foss summonsed Charles Townsend (31) of Robbinston, for Operating After Suspension after a traffic stop on Route 9 in Township 22.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 11-18 to 11-24-19

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins was dispatched to the trailer park in Hodgdon for a reported fight between eight or nine people.  Sgt. Clark and Cpl. Quint also responded.  An investigation determined two of the partygoers were underage and the male was being disorderly.  He was removed from the residence and was walking home.  Cpl. Quint located him a few hundred feet from the trailer park and after Tr. Kilcollins’ investigation, he was arrested for disorderly conduct.  The man was heavily intoxicated and taken to the jail.  The homeowner was issued a criminal summons for providing a place for minors to consume liquor.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Frenchville.  He observed a vehicle with poor operation and conducted a traffic stop.  Further investigation led him to arresting the female driver for OUI.  She was transported to Madawaska PD.  The woman was able to post bail and was released.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin received information of a suspected suspended driver in Mars Hill.  Tr. Martin located the vehicle and followed it into a private driveway.  When he approached the vehicle, the driver was not the registered owner (who is suspended) but was a female who was also suspended.  She stated she was driving because the owner did not have a valid license.  Tr. Martin issued the woman a traffic summons for the OAS Infraction and helped make arrangements for a licensed driver to remove the vehicle from the home they were visiting.

    Brief Synopsis:       HRCC received three 911 hang-up calls from an address in Moro Plt. Tr. Cotton responded to the address and made contact with a female that lived there. The female advised Tr. Cotton that she had some phone issues and that’s why she kept hanging up. The female wanted to report that someone had trespassed on her property a few nights prior and walked right beside her house. The female stated she was very scared because she lives by herself in a rural location. After a short investigation, Tr Cotton determined that a moose had walked beside her house and through her yard.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque conducted a bail check on a male from Mars Hill.  The male had a 2100hrs curfew and was not home at 2130hrs when Tr. Levesque arrived at his residence. The males father called him to return home and he did.  Tr. Levesque had the male submit to a urine drug test and he tested positive for meth and heroin.  The male was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail for violating his conditions of release.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque received a complaint of a suspicious male who was pulling into driveways multiple times on the Kinney Road in Blaine. While en route to the call Tr. Levesque received 3 separate calls about the male.  One of the homeowners found the male standing on the porch looking into the windows of a house so he followed the car and gave State Police Dispatch a registration number for the vehicle.  The homeowner followed the vehicle to a residence on Park Street in Mars Hill and Tr. Levesque arrived shortly after.  The male was identified by Tr. Levesque when he pulled into the driveway and he went inside the residence and locked the door.  Sgt. Fuller, Sgt. Cummings with the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office arrived to assist.  The homeowner came to the door and denied the male Troopers were looking for being there.  Eventually he allowed Troopers to search and the located the male they were looking for upstairs hiding.  The male was on bail and he was arrested for violating his conditions of release.

    Brief Synopsis:         Tr. Curtin was conducting routine warrant checks when he discovered a local Fort Kent man had a warrant out for his arrest for un-paid child support.  The man was located at his residence and arrested without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Casavant responded to a local business when and employee reported a customer had attempted to pay for services with a fake $100 bill.  The person had left prior to Tr. Casavant’s arrival.  The investigation is ongoing.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier pulled over a local man who he knew had a suspended driver’s license.  The roadside investigation also uncovered that the man had attached license plates that did not belong to the vehicle they were on.  The vehicle was towed, and the man was charged with Operating After Suspension and Improper Plates.  The vehicle was towed, and the man now has a court date in Houlton District Court.
