2017/2018 RULEMAKING/ADOPTION OF CODES

**Note:  The 2015 IRC, IBC and IEBC will be adopted as part of this Rulemaking package with the IECC staying at the 2009 edition.

This has been through the Public Hearing and comments period and now submitted to the Governor's Office. When that is received back, it will go to the Secretary of State's office for part of the final process. The goal is for a January 1, 2018 implementation of the new codes adopted.

As of June, 2017, the Building Codes program is under the purview of the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) with Brianne Hasty as program manager. However, through an agreement between DECD and the Department of Public Safety (DPS), Rulemaking will continue to be handled

by DPS, until this can be changed in statute with full duties going to DECD in the January 2018 Legislative Session.
