Tier III Identified Schools Only
This series is for teachers of reading in Grades K-8
Dates for this training are: Aug. 5, 26 - Sept. 16, Oct 7 and Oct 28
Each session will run 8 am - 2:30 pm with opportunities from 12 noon - 2 pm to work in smaller breakout groups and to engage in a large group debrief until 2:30 pm.
A principal track and educator track will be simultaneously implemented. These tracks will meet independently and together during the scheduled session dates.
Educator Track will focus on: Richardson's Guided Reading format, assess, decide, guide - instructional strategies based on Marie Clay's work - how to organize a classroom to implement the Richardson work - How to implement this framework and strategies virtually.
The Principal Track will focus on: The basics of the framework and how it relates to learning - exploring implementation issues: scheduling, time management, use of resources, forming collaborative teams.
The Principal and the Lead Teacher from each school will attend a 5th and final day of professional learning in which they will develop an action plan articulating the role of the Lead Teacher and the utilization of Richardson's framework during implementation of this instructional strategy throughout the entire school.
