The Maine Department of Education is committed to the development of strong mathematics aptitude for all Maine learners because mathematics is often referred to as the gatekeeper school subject. With world-class mathematics standards, a Statewide Strategic Plan for STEM and the development of a proficiency-based system of education, Maine DOE provides learners of all ages, as well as their families, communities and educators, with a pathway to achievement.

This site offers detailed information about mathematics instruction in Maine public schools, free and open resources that align with the Maine DOE strategic plan and tools for continued learning about mathematics education in schools and in the greater community.

Maine DOE occasionally needs Maine educators to participate on committees or teams to provide feedback and inform decisions. Please consider enrolling in this registry for the 2017/2018 school year.
