Inclusive Teaching Practices and Learning Training

What May 2023 participants said about the training…
“One of the best, most useful trainings I have ever attended.” and “The Inclusive Teaching Practices Training was a training that every educator should experience. I left the training feeling overwhelmed, nervous but also excited, empowered and hopeful."
  • Location: Capital Area Technical Center in Augusta
  • Dates: Wed. & Thurs., February 7 & 8 (Attendees must commit to both days.)
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. both days
  • Cost: Only $50 to cover food for both days
  • Contact hours are available

The Maine DOE Health Education & Physical Education Program will host this highly engaging event focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) and the impact on teaching practices. The training will include an exploration of foundational concepts in DEIJ and what it looks like in curriculum, instructional strategies, and classroom management practices. Following the training, participants are invited to join a virtual DEIJ Community of Practice for conversations and technical assistance. Anyone working with youth, not just HE & PE educators, is more than welcome to attend!

We are excited to have Dr. Sarah Benes as our co-trainer and consultant on this initiative. She is an assistant professor at Southern Connecticut State University in health education and physical education and President of SHAPE America. We are pleased to have Maine HE & PE Teacher Leaders co-training.
