Open Enrollment Ends January 15, 2022 for CoverMe.gov Health Insurance for Uninsured and Self Employed Mainers

The following notice is being posted as a courtesy on behalf of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Maine is running its own State-based Marketplace called CoverME.gov where uninsured people or those who buy insurance on their own can get health insurance, usually with financial assistance. Open enrollment ends on January 15, 2022.

Apply by next Wednesday, December 15 for coverage beginning January 1, 2022.

Individuals who may want to consider health coverage through CoverME.gov include:

  • People who are uninsured and do not have access to affordable health insurance through their job

  • People who buy their own health insurance such as self-employed, seasonal, or gig workers

  • People who work part-time and do not qualify for their employer's benefits

CoverME.gov will help people without access to affordable coverage learn more about health insurance options; compare plans; determine whether they qualify for financial help; and enroll in quality, affordable health coverage.

Free enrollment help is available to help consumers find the plan that meets their needs and budget. People can visit CoverME.gov/localhelp or call (866) 636-0355/TTY 711.

All private health plans offered on CoverME.gov provide quality, comprehensive coverage that will protect consumers if they have an accident or major illness. Marketplace plans on CoverME.gov cannot turn you away or charge you more for having a pre-existing condition.
