Menhaden Episodic Fishery Closed; Small Scale opens Monday July 5, 2021

Maine Department of Marine Resources would like to inform all Commercial Menhaden harvesters that the episodic event set aside (EESA) phase of the fishery for Maine is closed, effective Friday, July 2 at 12:01 a.m. Please submit all landing reports promptly.

The Incidental Catch and Small Scale (ICSS) menhaden fishery opens on Monday, July 5, at 12:01 a.m. Under the ICSS, as described in Chapter 41.30(3), menhaden may be harvested Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with a daily landing limit of 6,000 pounds, and electronic daily trip reports are due weekly by Sunday. Harvesters are limited to one landing per day, and all fish must be immediately stored in crates, barrels or totes (or a combination thereof).

EFFECTIVE DATE: Friday, July 2, 2021

REMINDER: Small Scale fishery has a weekly reporting requirement. Daily trip level reports are due weekly, on Sundays, before 11:59 p.m.

Failure to comply with reporting requirements, as described in Chapter 41.20, is a violation of the regulation. Please be aware that violation of this regulation may result in license suspension.
