Marine Patrol Investigating Jet Ski Accident

Georgetown - Marine Patrol is investigating an accident yesterday in which Richard Russell, 85 of West Gardiner, fell off his jet ski and near Macmahan Island at approximately 11:30 am.

Marine Patrol responded and found that Russell had been transported to shore at the Robinhood Marina in Georgetown by a lobsterman who witnessed him falling into the water. According to Marine Patrol reports, Russell was unconscious when he was recovered. CPR was performed on Russell by a nurse who was on a nearby vessel and boarded the fishing vessel. A second nurse along with a physician who were also nearby responded and assisted with CPR.

Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office and Georgetown Fire and EMS were on-scene when Russell was brought to shore. Russell was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and then to Maine Medical Center.
