Welcome to the 2019 Coastal Cleanup!

September 21 - 28, 2019

We invite you to join Maine’s largest single volunteer event. The Coastal Cleanup includes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who clean our coastal shoreline and associated waterways of trash. Each year over a thousand participants clear hundreds of miles of thousands of pounds of trash. What is collected is recorded and this data then becomes part of the international ocean trash index which is compiled by Ocean Conservancy. Your efforts continue to ensure that our coastal waters and habitats remain healthy and trash free.

Want to become more involved? Become a Coastal Cleanup Coordinator!

Coordinators are responsible for organizing the cleanup in their chosen location.  This includes guiding volunteer participation, advertising their cleanup, and disposing of the trash collected. We will send coordinators an information packet containing data sheets, trash bags, instructions etc.  Contact if the location you would like to clean is not in the list, or if you have any other questions.
