American Aquafarms, Inc. - Aquaculture Lease Scoping Session

Date: June 23, 2021

Time: 4:30 p.m.

Location: Remote meeting held via Zoom

Town: Remote

American Aquafarms has scheduled a scoping session (i.e. informational meeting) for two proposed standard leases: 1) A 60.37 acre site located northwest of Long Porcupine Island in Frenchman Bay; and 2) a 60.32 acre site located north of Bald Rock in Frenchman Bay. Both proposals are located in the Town of Gouldsboro. The session will be held remotely via Zoom. Information on how to access the session is included in the attachment at the end of this notice. If the June 23, 2021 meeting needs to be postponed it will be held on June 30, 2021 at the same time and format. Notice of the postponement will be posted to DMR's website.

The applicant will present their draft plans to members of the public, who will then have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions of the applicant and provide feedback about the draft proposal. The purpose of the meeting is for the applicant to share their proposed plans with the public. It does not determine the final outcome of the proposals. Provided the applicant submits final applications, a public hearing(s) on those proposals would eventually be held. At the public hearing(s), DMR would take evidence and testimony about the proposals as they relate to the applicable lease decision criteria. A final decision would be based on the relevant evidence and testimony provided at the public hearing(s).

You can participate in the scoping session or submit written comments on the draft proposal. The deadline for submitting written comments is 5:00 p.m. on July 7, 2021. All written comments will be provided to the applicant for their consideration as they work on developing their final proposals. Written comments can be submitted electronically at the link below or mailed to the Department at the address below. If you submit your feedback electronically, it needs to be typed directly into the form. The link to the form, provided below, contains further instruction.
