Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference

Date: October 5-10, 2019

Location: Intercontinental Hotel

Town: San Diego, CA

Every two years the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference (ISSC) meets to debate proposed changes to the National Shellfish Sanitation Program (NSSP). The NSSP model ordinance is adopted in state regulation and dictates how Maine manages bivalve shellfish. All changes to the NSSP must be made through the proposal process described in the attachment. This is an opportunity to propose new regulations and change or eliminate existing requirements in the NSSP. Industry members are welcome to submit proposals and can do so independently or with the consultation or assistance of the state or the Region I industry representative (Lori Howell). Please feel free to contact Kohl Kanwit to discuss ideas or request guidance. The biennial ISSC meeting will be held in San Diego, CA in October 2019.
